On May 15, 2025, my neighbor at *** **** **** ***** had a tree cut down in his back corner of his yard that connects to my yard via a fence. I left my home for an appointment and when I returned the tree cutters were gone and there is debris in my yard (pine combs, Branches etc). I went to my neighbor and reported that his contactor left debris in my yard. He stated to me "they cleaned my yard but, I did not think about your yard". He gave me the contact number for the company. I called and reported to Katie she asked for pictures I sent a picture and a video. When no one returned my call that day I sent a text asking to speak with the owner. The owner, Nathan Watson called me and stated, "you are complaining about a few pine combs". I informed Mr. Watson all I wanted is for someone to clean up the mess left from his workers. He stated, "this always starts as something minor and then you people end up saying your property is damaged". I told him I have lived here for 30 years with same neighbor and all I wanted is my property cleaned up from the debris. He refused. This business owner took advantage of an elderly homeowner and talked to me in a disrespectful manner. As you can see from the close proximally in our yards it was impossible for a that tree to be cut down without debris falling in my yard.Business Response

On May 15, one of our crews was a crew removing a dead pine at *** **** **** *****. The crew performed their tasks without damaging any property of our client or any neighboring property or assets. This client has hired us a few times before without any incidents.
The crew was complete with their task and left site at 1:10pm. I've provided their clock times in the attachments. They reported that the neighbor who submitted the complaint was in her yard for most of the time the crew was on site. She took video of the work being performed confirming this information. She did not attempt to contact any of the crew members while they were there letting us know there was any debris on her side of the fence. We missed a call and she left a voicemail at 1:44pm of the initial complaint. We missed another call at 1:56pm. She called immediately again at 1:56pm at which time my office staff was able to take her call to which she was unreasonably upset and rude to my staff. After talking, she sent the pictures the staff requested at 2pm. At 3pm she was demanding more information and requesting the owners (me) information. The next day I was able to make contact with her just after 10am when she had messaged my wife on Facebook, texted our business and called the office, again that morning. I was able to confirm that none of her property was damaged. She said there were 10-30 pine cones in the yard and it was a mess. She was rude to me on the phone. The quoted statements provided by her are not verbatim. We did not take advantage of an elderly person, or anyone in this matter. We were warned by our client that the neighbor has been difficult to deal with since they have lived at the address and he was not surprised at this outcome and said he would be willing to speak to our character.
I am not inclined to send a crew out to the property to clean up because I'm not going to subject my employees to someone who could create a hostile work environment while there or something new come as a complaint from us stepping on their property. Also, the nature of dead pines to drop material before a removal is normal. The material could have been there before hand - the pictures show it is very few pine cones, no limbs of sizable nature - and if some of the material dropped during the removal our team is experienced with these situations and typically cleans up in neighbors yards when this happens. The tree was removed at a distance from the fence with some of the limbs near the fence line. Considering the dangerous nature of dead pines it was likely the crew missed the few pine cones going over the fence while they were focused on the removal. Had it been of considerable amount they would have noticed. To be clear: we take real concerns seriously and considering the rude nature this has been brought to us we not inclined to do more than we already have by removing a dangerous pine near the complainants property.

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because: Mr. Watson admitted "a few" pine combs may have dropped on my property, and they were contacted to come and remove them from my property. I am 72 years of age and have no desire to make false accusations. Speaking on someone's character is not the issue in this situation. The facts are that his company was negligent was made of aware and did nothing about it. This is not the way businesses are supposed to handle themselves when a complaint is lodged. All he had to do is for himself or his employees clean up the mess made in yard. As I stated I have lived here approximately 30 years with the same neighbor and would certainly like to know exactly what "difficult" he is referring to perhaps he is referring to when his dog jumped the fence and bit my grandchild on her face. To reiterate difficult does not negate the facts There are two sides to every story. My verbatim statements are correct. Mr. Watson is attempting to gain support for his failure to act as an ethical business afforded to operate in the state of South Carolina. Finaly, I have a right to film, take pictures etc. on my property. I did it because they appeared to be reckless in the close proximity to my property, I was simply protecting my property.
Sincerely,
****** ******Business Response

We strive to treat every neighbor and client with respect, and we also hope for the same in return. While it’s true a few pine cones may have landed in your yard, the nature of tree work sometimes causes minor debris to cross property lines — which is why we’re always open to respectful communication to make things right.
Unfortunately, the tone and timeline of your demand made it difficult for us to engage constructively. Being spoken to with courtesy goes a long way in getting cooperation. While we are not required to remove natural debris from adjacent yards, we often do so voluntarily when mutual respect is part of the conversation.Customer Answer

Thank you for your attention to this matter. The elderly and children are often dismissed in our society and this is an example. Mr. Watson cannot defend his business decision not to investigate the issue and seek a remedy with me as the property owner when this situation occurred. He has no documentation testimony, proof from anyone he addressed my situation other than to manipulate and turn the attention away from business standards he should abide by to operate in the state of South Carolina. I would like for the file to state a consumer made a complaint and the business owner failed to remedy the situation with the homeowner.
