In September of 2024 I signed up for personal training at Onelife Fitness Irmo. I was told that I would have to sign up for 3 months at a time. I was told that I had to pay $96 up front for my first month of sessions, and that I would be billed for the second two months automatically. I paid up front and was billed for 3 months of sessions. On the third month the trainer missed my session and he told me to make up for it he would give me a free session. I informed him that I was actually moving to the other side of town, almost an hour away, and was going to see if I could have the session missed plus the free session transferred to another gym. After finding out my trainer worked on commission I told him no problem I would keep the sessions with him because I liked him and that I would just make it work sometime in March or April when I no longer had to work over time.

On January 25th 2025, I was billed for a fourth month of sessions. After seeing this error I called and spoke to the training manager JoJo and was told I would receive a refund in 3-5 business days. After that time passed, I was then told that he had to ask the fitness manager Tara Meekins who said I could not receive a refund but offered to have the sessions transferred to another location but that they had an expiration date. I informed her that I did not want this option because I had moved and work a lot, I wanted my money back for services not received. At this point I don't even want the session that I paid for and was missed or free session offered to compensate. I want my $96 for a month of training I did not sign up for. I was told that I had to inform the gym 30 days in advance to cancel the session however, this was never explained to me initially nor did they provide a signed contract stating this was the case. They have just been giving me the run around and ignoring my emails which leads me to believe they have misleading "shady gym" practices to take the money of local consumers.
