On December 26, 2024, Meetze Plumbing performed minor toilet rebuilds in my home (Invoice #*********) at the cost of $924.48. The work was completed by technician Tim P*****, who stated the repairs were satisfactory at the time of completion. However, following this service, a leak developed in the upstairs toilet, which resulted in water damage to the ceiling in the laundry room and office area.
Meetze Plumbing acknowledges that the damages were caused by the initial plumber's negligence but has refused to cover the repair costs for the damages caused. Additionally, a second plumber from Meetze Plumbing came out to address the issue but attempted to charge for their visit, despite the situation being a result of their initial error.
We would not have incurred any of these damages had we not contacted Meetze Plumbing. We feel the company has not taken responsibility for the damages caused and has failed to provide a resolution that is fair.
We are requesting that Meetze Plumbing cover the full cost of the repairs to fix the damage to my ceiling caused by the leak resulting from their service. This includes any contractor fees for repairing the drywall and repainting the affected areas in my home.Business Response

Company reported for service call to fix a leak at a water meter. Once there, I was told that a leak test was required. Other than that, they did nothing beyond what I was already aware of and did nothing to repair the leak at the meter. Cost for repair was discussed and I agreed to the charge. But the did nothing to repair claiming a leak test was required which Meetze does not have test equipment to perform. The plumbe supposedly set up a leak test for the next morning. After no calls the next morning I contacted the plumber he told me he no longer worked for Meetze and that I would need to call back in which is an answering service. Meetze should not be showing up and taking payment for an assessment that requires testing by another company to address issues that THEY have. This was a major leak at commercial property where city of Aiken Had come out to property. It was nessary to schedule with another plumber to fix the leak at the meter.Business Response

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and frustration you encountered during our service call and with the subsequent follow-up.
We did try to reach out on 11/29 after we received your initial ****** review but was unsuccessful in our attempts at further correspondence.
At Meetze Plumbing, we always aim to provide thorough and effective service. Regarding your complaint, when our technician arrived on site, they identified the need for a leak test to properly assess the issue with the water meter after. Unfortunately, we do not have the specific leak detection equipment required to perform this test. Our intention was to schedule this test with a qualified third-party provider, and we communicated this to you during our visit.
We understand how important it is to address leaks, especially at a commercial property, and regret that the leak test was not arranged as quickly as it should have been. The technician, as you mentioned, left the site and indicated that a more specialized leak detection company would be responsible for performing the necessary test. However, after the technician no longer worked with Meetze, this caused delays and miscommunication. We understand how this added to your frustration.
We would like to assure you that we have active employees who answer the phone during our normal business hours, it is not strictly a call-answering service.
We regret any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding in this matter. If you still wish to resolve the issue with the original repair, we would be happy to discuss alternative solutions or assist with connecting you to the proper professionals to address the leak. We value your business and would welcome the opportunity to make things right.
Sincerely,
Khristian W*******

Hello,
We would just like to note that as soon as the customer expressed he was upset through a ****** review we attempted communication but have not received any further correspondence. I have attached the invoice, copy of email sent to customer, as well as a picture of the meter leak surrounded by cement. We stayed in active communication until our part of the job was done and have no control over another company's schedule so could not force the hand of the Leak detection company. All of our calls were recorded and in them we gave the customer every option available and spoke with him multiple times throughout the job. We would love to resolve this issue!
Thank you,

I was quoted a price of adit $6300.00 to replace water meter box with a higher rating for vehicular traffic and about $5300 to repair leak. After contacting his manager the plumber on site reduced these estimates by $1000.00 and required a leak test prior to performing any repair. ****** plumbing in Aiken SC repaired the leak and the price including a flapper valve on a toilet inside the affected business is $400 - $500. Meetze wanted 10 times the amount charged for the repair.Customer Answer

Meetze was contacted for a back flow into my house. Plumber came out to diagnose the problem and stated the issue was temporarily fixed and the cause of the issue was a fence post. He had a come out to snake the drain and was able to get the back flowed water to drain but didn’t fix the issue. Coley then used a camera to look into the drain and stated that the fence post was causing the issue and saw roots in the drain. This cost $617.13. The problem with this is it wasn’t properly diagnosed, and was only visually diagnosed. If coley would’ve took 5 mins to dig around the main water drain outside he would’ve found that not only is the drain no where near the post but there was another cap under the dirt which was where the clog was. I had to contact a handy man to do this not a plumber that specializes in this field. I sent an email and multiple phone calls to get called back by Coley not a member of management. My interaction with him was beyond unprofessional and his attitude very nasty. He got upset an proceeded to deflect the reason for his misdiagnosis and tried to tell me that things needed to be done and never actually answered the question. He told me “Well congratulations! You fixed your problem.” That had to be the most unprofessional way to handle a customer and repeatedly told him to have his manager contact me asap! Never got a call even after contacting the office twice on 6/5/24. This hands down has to be the worst service I’ve ever had and the most unprofessional, this was an easy money grab and scam.Business Response

On April 2, 2024 I hired Meetze Plumbing to come to my residence and unclog my drain line going from my house to my septic tank. Upon completion I was told that the clog in my drain line had been removed and that they would be sending someone the next day to insert a camera into my drain and let me know if I would need to do any further work to keep it clear. I was charged $159.00 On the following day April 3, 2024 I was visited by a second technician to do a follow-up by using a small camera inserted into my drain. After doing this I was told that my line was still clogged, but I could used my toilet for another two or three days before it backed up again. Or I could pay them an additional $2600.00 to fix the problem. I then asked the technician why I was charged $159.00 if my drain line hadn't been unclogged, and was told that they had made a small hole in the clog.....that could last up to 2 days. I called them back on April 4, 2024 to voice my concerns and was told that there was no warranty on clogs, so basically I paid $159.00 to use my toilet for two days!!!!Business Response
Date: 04/04/2024
After reviewing job notes and other details, I'm more than happy to have a crew come and unclog the sewer line then camera to confirm there are no underlying issues at no additional charge to Mr Lindo. Any additional findings and work quoted from the camera inspection will have an additional cost minus 10% for the inconvenience.

I had 2 tankless water heaters install in September 2022. I began having issues with the tankless water heaters in September2023, prior to going on a planned 2 week vacation and could not get in touch with the person that had installed them. I reached out to Meetze Plumbing and they explained to me that the water heaters were installed incorrectly and that they they were in fact a fire hazard. As an 76 year old widow I believed that my only option was to go on their advise to remove the tankless water heaters that I had install a year earlier. I certainly didn't want my house burning down. Especially since Meetze told me it would cost over $14k to bring the tankless water heaters up to code.
Within a couple of days of having them installed, I was able to determine the person/company that did the original tankless water heater installation in 2022. I reached out to them to get my money back and they advised me that that they would be happy to reinstall the tankless ones, since they are a higher quality product however they need Meetze to remove the water heaters just installed earlier in the week. The previous company stated that their company has a 1 year guarantee on their products and services and that if you are not happy with the product that they will remove the item and refund the money spent. I reached out to Meetze and explain the situation and what I would like done. They stated that they would be happy to remove the water heaters at my expense. They are not willing to refund the original money either.
I had paid just over $10k for the tankless water heaters a year ago and then had to pay another $10k for a less superior product because I was scared that the current tankless were going to cost more than $14k to repair and burn my house down. I feel like they took advantage of me, and my situation. These scare tactics used by Meetze to buying the new water heaters were unethical; I would like them to remove the water heaters that they installed and refund my money.Business Response

Mrs ******** contacted Meetze Plumbing on 10/12/2023 at 8:50am stating she was having problems with her tankless water heater which was installed by a company contracted through ****'s approximately one year before. Mrs ******** mentioned she reached out to ****'s however they stated they weren't responsible and she didn't know the company that installed the heater, she thought it was ****'s. A Meetze Plumbing Service Technician arrived to the home at 9:20 am on 10/12/2023 and Mrs ******** showed him the water heaters in the attic area. Upon looking at heaters they found multiple installation concerns. First the venting was installed incorrectly and with the wrong materials. The manufacturer specifies the vent pipe necessary called Ubbink that has to be used for the model water heaters that were installed. The venting was ran in a flexible duct and single wall pipe which is completely against building codes in our area and a major fire hazard. While taking the venting apart we found a wadded up manual inside one of the exhaust pipes, thankfully it never caught fire. Given the venting was not properly installed, the system presented a major carbon monoxide concern as well. Mrs ******** should have been very concerned considering all of the safety hazards the original installation presented. The gas lines were also not sized properly for the application. The system is 1/2 lb gas system, the gas piping was not sized for the amount of btu’s the tankless units require. Additionally the appliance flex connectors used were not big enough for the heaters; the rating for the gas connectors used were 136,000 and the tankless units require 199,000 btu for each one. The electric outlets installed were not up to code and have no covers on them. The Service Technician gave Mrs ******** two options to get her hot water that day, up to todays code standards, and not present both fire and carbon monoxide safety concerns. The Service Technician also provided $400 in discounts on top of a Service Partner Plan which offered an additional 10% off of labor totaling $1,134.70 in savings. Mrs ******** signed the option presented to remove the improperly installed heaters and install new heaters. The Service Technician removed both tankless units, venting, etc and installed two new 50 gallon tank water heaters in drain pans and new copper piping to each heater as well as proper venting. Ran the proper B vent on both heaters to the roof termination. Both heaters were operational at the end of the job.
Mrs ******** contacted Meetze Plumbing after getting in touch with the original installation company who stated they warranty their products for a year. At that point Mrs ******** requested we come and remove the heaters the Meetze Plumbing Service Technician installed and refund her money in full. Meetze Plumbing employees responded very quickly to the problem presented with the information presented and gathered during the course of the process. Work was completed to company standards as well as local code requirements. Hazards presented from the orinigial installation were addressed and corrected. Heaters installed cannot be resold by Meetze Plumbing.
I reached out to Mrs ******** to discuss reasonable resolutions. Unfortunately her and her family are currently experiencing major personal events at the moment. I requested Mrs ******** contact me as she can in the near future so we can discuss reasonable solutions at a more appropriate time. I have noted in my business calendar to reach out in the future should I not hear back.

After 3 reschedules with just an email saying somone would be there the next day, their tech came and FALSELY failed my backflow testing ($178/ over 3 times the usual amount) then tried to get us to pay atleast $1208 to have the system replace. Kept pushing that it FAILED at every point we had to have it replaced quickly or else face issues with the city. Also kept mentioning something about my tankless water heater. My husband called another company to come out ($50) and the system is perfectly fine. I and the second company both filed a complaint with the city. Still waiting too see if they even submitted the paperwork to the city.Business Response

Meetze plumbing company came to change the toilet flanges on two toilets almost a year ago. They did the work incorrectly, installing the locking nuts backwards, and cranking one toilet down so tight that it severely damaged my bathroom floor. I’ve repeatedly tried to reach out to this company to fix the issue. It took over 6 months to get someone to even come look at it. They sent people out, admitted the work was done incorrectly and the reason for the damage. They apologized and told me they’d fix the issue. The boss even gave me his direct number after telling me that someone would be in touch shortly with a tile selection to fix the damage. He has proceeded to not take any of my calls and ignore 3 messages I’ve left over the past month. In summary: they damaged my property, admit fault, but refuse to take any actual steps to remedy the situation and continue to completely ignore me when I try to reach out.Business Response

We were called to look at a toilet leak back in August 2022. During our work a piece of tile was cracked. The customer was patient with us to resolve, however, our management failed to respond timely. Moving forward I became aware of the issue and our lack of responsiveness. We did have a contractor look at the damages. Ultimately, The customer and I agreed to refund the amount for the original work. We will refund $950 on original $879 bill.Initial Complaint

A technician from Meetze Plumbing came to my house on 1/11/2023 two days after I called them to address a problem with my basement flooding when I used my washing machine. The technician told me that a waste pipe from the washer and kitchen sink had deteriorated and leaking into my crawlspace and made its way to my basement. I was told a complete re-pipe would not only solve my problem but prevent future issues in my older home. I was also told that a sales representative would contact me for a quote to fix the problem. On 1/13/2023 the sales rep came to my house and prepared a quote of $ 5668.16. A charge of $ 1135.00 was required as a deposit to start the work. After paying the deposit and more than a week later, the workers came to my house on 1/24/2023. After two days of work, they told me they could not complete the job because of a broken waste pipe. When I told them that this was the problem I thought they were going to fix they were very confused and told me that they only completed half of the job. The next day the original sales agent came to my house and said it was an error in communication with the original tech who came out on 1/11. She said she would talk to management about this job since the re-piping only addressed incoming water and not waste drainage. This was never explained to me before I agreed to the work as I had no issues with incoming water. She also stated that a remediation company would need to come out to remove the sewage and wet ground in the crawlspace and this would need to be done before they could fix the drain pipe. Another Meetze sales rep came to my house on 1/27 who quoted me an additional $ 658.15 to fix the drain pipe. I also got a quote from the remediation company Meetze uses, Rumsey Construction, for $ 5000.00 to $ 8000.00. Since I got this quote I never heard back from Meetze to schedule. Then I saw that they charged my credit card the remaining balance of $4533.16 of the job that wasn't completed or neededBusiness Response

Kevin Meetze spoke with Mr ********Customer Answer

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:Meetze knew about the broken waste prior to the “repipe”
work even before it was quoted to me. The
broken waste water pipe from the kitchen sink and laundry was found by Meetze
representative Phillip Lardieri On January 11th. He took pictures of it as well. I was told then a “repipe” would fix the
problem. Meetze employee Amber Boram came
to my house to give me the quote for the “repipe” on January 13th and
I again described what happened that caused me to call Meetze plumbing. When half of the repipe job was done, the plumbers
said they couldn’t finish due to broken waste pipe. Amber confirmed the next
day that the job that was quoted would not fix the waste pipe and she was not
told of the finding by Phillip earlier in the month. She also said someone else would need to
provide a quote to fix the waste pipe. On
January 27th Nicolas C****** from Meetze came to quote to fix the
waste pipe. He confirmed that he and
Amber had not been told about the findings from the original visit on January 11th. I was quoted additional money (wasn’t stated
as discounted as mentioned in their response to BBB complaint) to fix the
problem and that I was required to use a remediation company that would cost an
additional $5000-$8000.It appears that Meetze’s response to this complaint tries to
mislead by saying that they did not know about the broken waste pipe until
after the “repipe’ work had started.
That is completely inaccurate.I authorized work I was made to believe would resolve a
waste pipe issue. I did not knowingly authorize work to repipe only incoming
water. No one would “allow” this company
to continue to work on their home after their demonstrated lack of internal
communication, mismanagement, not returning calls and charging credit cards for
work that wasn’t done and then not providing accurate refunds. Their refund they did provide didn’t not accurately
reflect the work that was not completed and that’s evident not only under the
house but externally as well.
I'm expecting a full refund of $5,007.62.
Sincerely,
**** ******Business Response

I regret we can't come to reason on this matter. I also am disappointed that we did not communicate better with Mr. ******. Also, Mr. ****** timeline and observations are correct. However, Meetze identified, quoted, and completed necessary work that was approved by the owner. The home is a older home with a lot of significant plumbing issues. We competed approved work that was necessary but the owner for whatever reason did not want additional work done. Yes, it was an additional expense. I have the observation, estimate, and completed work items attached.
Our plumber did an inspection and found old water lines leaking as well as some drain issues. He contacted the office to have our repipe plumber develop an estimate.
Our repipe plumber met with the owner. He refused to let us in the home. He stated he only wanted plumbing fixed under the house. We quoted to replace the old water lines. You can see in the quote that this was what was quoted and the explanation shows its for the water only.
Our install crew arrived to complete the work. Again the owner would not let us inside. While replacing the water lines we again found the leaking drain. This is separate from the water lines, so we quoted this additional work that was unrelated to the original quote.
The owner refused the additional work. We are not allowed to finish the water repipe. We credited the owner for the work not completed. This is also in the attachment.
The owner then spoke to our plumbers and myself wanting a 100% refund. We attempted to explain that the plumbing problems we originally found, that we quoted, and he authorized was competed (except for the two items after we stopped). So in good faith we can and did offer to fix the drain at no charge in order to complete the original quote. He actually schedule the work and then cancelled the day before we were scheduled.
