Unfortunately, we’ve had an extremely poor experience while staying here. The regime manager, Michelle L*****, decided to go on vacation and while Tropical Storm Debby was moving through the Charleston/ IOP area and make decisions for the property while she wasn’t even here. My family and I have been visiting since the 80s, and we’ve never experienced such blatant disrespect and disregard. We stay at these buildings due to the fact that there is an elevator as my parents are elderly and disabled. Michelle and the HOA board decided to shut off the elevators without altering the local fire department, leaving my disabled parents stuck in their condo on the 4th floor for the past three days. When I called to get updates, I was met with rudeness that was honestly APPALLING. There was NO communication regarding when the elevator went out of service. We were told that the risk of the circuit board blowing and costing them money was more important than the fact that my parents were stuck. The fire department let us know that the HOA/ building management had NOT alerted them that they had made the decision to shut down the elevator indefinitely. Even now with the storm moving out of the area, we have been given no updates from management, Wild Dunes, or property management. We’ve spent thousands of dollars to stay here for the week, and we were told to ‘suck it up’ and that there was ‘nothing they can do’. We understand that there is nothing they can do about the weather, but there was NO communication to us as guests/ residents and NO communication to local emergency services on this decision. I chatted with neighbors who are owners and they expressed that this has been a common occurrence. I would not recommend staying here or purchasing a property here, as they care more about the $ and not the comfort and safety of the residents. HUGE KUDOS to the IOP fire department for their help and care, they are the sweetest men and woman who helped us out without hesitation.
