On Monday, July11, 2022 I signed a contract with Bath Planet Coastal Carolina to replace an existing shower with a new shower with a lower walk in threshold. I wrote a check for the required amount to begin for $3000 and owed $4050 at completion. I was uneasy about this cost and tried to stop the contract with them. The owner, Trip G******, called me begging me not to cancel even saying he would purchase some furniture that I had for sale. After much conversation with him, he dropped the cost of the work to $5,000. I agreed, hung up the phone and still felt uneasy. By Wednesday after many emails etc with **** I sent him a message to call me. Finally, He called me that afternoon and I told him I wanted to cancel and he told me he would give me my money back. He said he had already ordered some supplies but he would give me all my money. .I reminded him that he said he orders supplies on Thursday, another reason to feel I needed to cancel. He then said he would write a check and mail it for the full amount and that I should get it about the middle of next week.
After a week I began calling and emailing him for my money. He said he mailed it and I said cancel and give me a certified check. This continued on and on and on always breaking appointments to bring me a certified check.
On Friday October8, 2022 Mr G****** said we couldn't meet that day as planned. He said he would bring it Monday morning after a 8 AM meeting. I told him to stop at the club house and leave it at the desk or I would meet him there. When I didn't hear anything up in the day I finally gave him an emailed ultimatum. If he didn't give me my money by 4 P M I would take him to court.
He responded as usual that he didn't know if he could and that he had told me that he had meetings that dayhe only said he had the 8 AM meeting.
I'm 81 years old living on fixed income from disabled retirement. Can you help me or tell me how to get my money back, Please?
