      I have had Home Telecom for nearly 2 years now. This is by far the worst internet provider I have ever had. Their service is constantly having connection issues. I’d estimate on average once a week, I go to do something over the internet and the connection fails. They have irregular outages at a much higher rate than other ISPs I’ve had in the past. And when they do have an outage, their equipment that they make you have is terrible. Each time I have an outage, I end up resetting the router and modem at least 10 times before it finally connects. It’s the only service provider in my area and it shows. They don’t have to provide a good service because no one here has a choice.

      I am filing a complaint against Home Telecom due to their refusal to honor the cancellation terms stated in their own Terms of Service (ToS). I requested to cancel my internet service, but Home Telecom claims I am subject to an Early Termination Fee (ETF) per the service contract. However, the contract explicitly references and requires acceptance of Home Telecom’s general Terms and Conditions, which clearly state: “You may terminate the Services at any time by calling 1-888-746-4482. No cancellation or disconnect fee will apply.” This directly contradicts the contract’s ETF clause, which imposes a fee equal to 100% of the remaining monthly charges. Given that the contract requires compliance with the ToS — and that the ToS states no cancellation fee applies — I believe the ETF is unenforceable. I have requested that Home Telecom cancel my service without penalty in accordance with the ToS, but they have not responded after my request and follow-up.

      Home Telecom (John ***** and Karen ******) have contacted the customer in an attempt to successfully resolve and respond to the complaint.  The attachment (email from Karen ******) provides the following information:  1) we have agreed to waive the early termination fee for the customer, 2) confirmed the disconnection of service date of April 1, 2025 and 3) requested the service equipment (router) be returned to a Home Telecom location or contact us if we need to schedule an appointment to have someone pick up the service equipment.  We hope this is a satisfactory resolution to the complaint.  Thank you for being a Home Telecom customer and we hope you will consider us as your service provider in the future.

      Home Telecom has made it very difficult to pay your bill in a timely manner due to their online payment system. I have tried to reset my password multiple times and each time the system tells me the link is expired or the password does not meet criteria, which based on the posted criteria it does. They will not allow me to put my account on autopay due to a returned payment in the past, and I am a full time working single parent, so I don't have time to sit around on phone systems trying to pay my bill. For an internet provider their payment portal should work, they are in the tech industry. They charge me reconnection fees despite their portal being the majority of the issue (i pay all my bills online and by autopay) and refused to waive it as a courtesy for the problems they have caused their customers. Plus, 24 hours to reconnect with no warning is ridiculous.

      My apologies for the delayed response.  Our customer service team attempted to make contact with Ms. Hannah D**** to resolve the complaint via email and phone call on Monday December 2, 2024.  Our contact attempts were using the email address and phone number provided to the BBB.  We have applied a $30.00 credit to the account which should be reflected on the next billing statement.  Please let us know if we can assist with the online payment system or if there is anything we we can do to assist with resolving the complaint.  Thank you

      I purchased the 2 gigabyte internet service through home telecom back in March 2023. I only had internet services with them for a few months. The internet was very spotty, often completely down for an hour or two everyday day. I called customer support time and time again and was told many times that they saw no problems on their end so there wasn’t anything wrong with the service. They would not replace the equipment. They would not schedule a time for a technician to come out so I could make sure I was home. They would send a technician at random times and days, always when I wasn’t home due to work. They one time they did tell me what day a technician would come to my home I stayed home from work to wait. The technician never showed. I called in several times asking to speak to management and made many complaints. I finally canceled my services and went with another company. Now they are trying to say I owe them money. They never fixed my internet, caused me constant stress for months, and were the cause of me losing hours at work. I always found out that the equipment couldn’t even process 2 gigs and only went up to 1 gig of internet. They lied to me and sold me 2gigs when they only ever provided 1 gig. The WiFi was never above a few hundred megabits per second. Horrible Service and horrible customer service. I feel like I was completely lied to and taken advantage of and now they still want to steal more money and time from me. Also they never reimbursed me for the extra money spent for 2 gigs of internet that I never received. Home telecom is a thief.
