We bought a home in October 2022. Thomas Evans was to renovate it for us. He said that he could get it done in 3 to 4 months. We did not get in until the end of December 2023.
We only were able to get in at that time because we basically took over directing the subs, or nothing would’ve gotten done. Even though we are in, the house is not complete. For example, he said he could “ pop the new front door in in one day”. It has been five weeks, and our front door still lacks the trim, and the correct hardware in it to secure the door.
There have been some materials for the door that have had to be ordered, but those were in long ago. Thomas isn’t even returning our texts or calls. As this has been a pattern with him all along, it concerns us particularly as we cannot leave town or don’t even feel safe not even having the ability to have our home secure. We desperately need your help to resolve this issue.

    Sincerely,
    Leonard and Nancy Forrest.

Unfortunately, we had multiple changes throughout the process and worked diligently to get the job completed correctly and in a timely manner.  We had to order special trim for the door that took longer than anticipated to receive, which caused a delay concerning the door project.  We have since been in contact with the homeowners and have resolved the issue.

The reason he was delayed had nothing to do with changes, but the fact that he or his subs were rarely on site. So much so that we had to get the phone numbers for the subs and had to work with them ourselves.

We have not finished the door installation job, as Thomas Evans was to supply us the correct paint for the door, and just yesterday sent over the wrong information. A gallon of the wrong paint was purchased and used, The job was to be finished yesterday, and now the job cannot be finished until the painter comes back from out of town.

In addition, our attorney advised us to have Thomas Evans have his sub contractors sign lien waivers for each  as it is becoming common knowledge to us that within the contracting community he is slow topay and sometimes does not pay, even with judgements. We are waiting to get those lien wavers back signed and properly notarized.

We also need to resolve the issue of our kitchen island as it is chipping even though his painter painted  it  twice. We have heard from three different sources (Benjamin M****, Cabinet company, other painter) that his painter did not do the job correctly even the second time, even though we specifically conveyed to his painter how Benjamin M**** had said to do the job. His painter did it in one day, and the other experts are saying there were too many steps to do properly it in one day.
