We have been waiting over a month to have a ceiling repair done on our newly constructed home and have not received any response or timeline for repair. This is the 3rd water damage repair we have had to our home that they built less than a year ago (2 plumbing, 1 outside leak).The entire building process was a nightmare and took nearly 2 years to complete (was quoted at 6 months). We have had numerous issues with delayed or no response to issues theyve caused. Neither the ******* or the builder will respond to email, calls, or texts and when they do, there is always an excuse as to why some issue isnt their fault. We have had issues at nearly every step of the building process and I have had to personally repair several things due to no response or flat-out refusal.Brighton has been building in ************ for several years so we thought we were building with a reliable builder but our entire experience has been terrible. Its been very disappointing and I CANNOT recommend them as they are not timely, responsive, or professional. I will likely have to hire this repair out and send them a bill since they wont respond to any communications.Business Response

This was definitely a tough build. We had never built this system before and it is not easy, especially when you have never done it before. He has not disclosed that we took this over from another builder. The homeowner is failing to disclose that before we could even start because there was a mold issue. We had to make some corrections to what the previous builder had done, doors not being framed properly etc. I do understand his frustrations. We have been trying to get a sub contractor out to fix the ceiling. We have responded to emails that have been sent. We may have missed some, but we certainly weren't ignoring anybody.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because the response is not a solution, only a list of excuses. The builder still has not reached to rectify the issue and we had to hire a contractor to come out. We will satisfied when the bill for the repairs is paid.Also, the builder is correct, they took over the build when half complete and took over 18 months to complete half of the house. The majority of delays were for normal framing, painting, siding, decks etc with 3-4 weeks often going between work.

Brighton is doing an addition on to our home. From the beginning he was approximately a month late in starting(that didnt bother us) but when they finally did show up they had no idea what had to be done. They started work and messed up not knowing the floor is being raised so they had to redo the sliding door and windows (2 weeks of work) Its now going on 5 weeks since anyone has been here. He had promised twice that people will be here to do some work and they never showed up. Sent him an email yesterday 5/13 asking when his guy will be here and got an auto response he out of the office till today. Still havent heard from him and the gas guy still hasnt shown up. He already took ********* from us. He did say there would be gaps in waiting but it started off with a 4 week gap now its going on a 5 week gap of no one showing up and only 2 weeks of work where they messed everything up. If we didnt contact him he would not be contacting us. Please help us get the work done. I do have plenty of emails and a video of what my house has looked like for the past 5 weeks. I told them at the very beginning that there will be gaps. It is hard to line people up for an addition when there's so much new construction going on.
I will figure out what I have in it and let them out of their contract.

I am rejecting this response because: we have a contract that states work will completed by May 18th, which will not happen. You will be in breach of contract and we want damages. Give us back our deposit because you did not do the job.

I am only charging for the work that was done. There were other factors that caused the delay. I apologize it is not going to be done in time but I let them know when we had the delay in permitting. I also let them know at the beginning additions were tough to get scheduled.Customer Answer

I hired Brighton Construction to build my home. The front and rear porches are tiled. They are improperly pitched, and the water is pitched towards the house. The water does not drain off the porch and is leaking water into the first floor. I have tried for over a year to get the contractor back, and he refuses to make the repairs. He repeatedly said he was going to rectify the issue but has not.Business Response

We are more than happy to fix the problem. They moved in approximately November of 2021 without making final payment. They did not acknowledgement amount due. The first time there was any notification of any leak was 9-30-2022 which was when Hurricane *** came through. If they will make payment arrangements, we will fix the porches.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:The statement was incorrect. He was advised of the porch issue on August 3rd at 251 PM. Hurricane *** did not hit ** until Sept 30th.
The 2 porches need to be repaired among other items that were submitted before i even think of final payment.
i really just want to move on and have the items corrected as this was a new home and not a used purchase

I am rejecting this response because:I think we would all agree that you would never pay anything in full until the job is completely done and satisfied.
The 5k hold back from the bank in Nov 2021, was accepted by Brighton Construction because work was not completed.
Anyway, I have never seen the demo guys at the house and no work has been performed.
i would be happy if we could get the porches repaired.

On April 11, Brighton Construction sent C&R Electrical to my Atlantic Beach residence to check for electrical issues per our construction contract. At that time it was confirmed that a hallway light and doorbell were non-operational due to a malfunctioned LED chip and a doorbell transformer. The house was unoccupied and no electrical was turned on since Sept 2022. When I requested the status of the electrical repair, I was informed that this damage was due to storm damage and would not be repaired. When I requested a copy of the electrical report, due to misinformation being communicated by Brighton Construction, I was denied multiple times. In addition, I was told by **************** site supervisor that *** stated he would not repair the damage and further denied a copy of the electrical report. In addition, I have made several attempts to get other work repaired, per contract, by Brighton construction in a timely manner.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
The work on the puck light that was noted by the electrical report was not caused by storm damage. Per previous conversations with Brighton Construction, the puck light was a standard lighting fixture placed during build and was not purchased or requested by my family (or designee). Brighton Construction has not responded to when the light will be purchased and replaced. I have asked for a timeframe of when to expect the replacement and installation.

I did not reject to do any work. I am adding the email communication we have had, 3 email chains. She literally used the words miscommunication. I am fixing the storm related work and neither is the electrician, but we are going to fix the punchlist items.
