Friday of June 7th my car got towed that wasnt the issue however I get to the tow place and my car is registered in ************** there for I would need to have an inspection to get my car a new registration which they were requiring for me to get into the car I told them this and was given a very hard time even tho there was no way for me to get the documentation on top of that I was told different storys by three different people the daughter of the owner told me on the 5th day I came in it would be 520 to get my car out and then 560 the next day come to find out she lied to me because i came back 2 days after and was told it would be 720$ to get my car out nobody told me about a 250$ charge on the 5th day I was told it would start increasing after the 7th day which was a lie as well. The manager told me I could get my things out of the car which was confusing because I had to go get the keys I didnt bring them because I have been told since day one Im not allowed to get my stuff out of the car.I come back not even 2 hours later and the owner asked what were my intentions with the car and I gave no response because I felt like that was for me to know and then he told me me I couldnt get anything out of my car even my id and insurance cards that were present in the car.he told me and my sister to *** him about it very unprofessional.so I contacted the police just for the police to prove them wrong the cops came with me and told them I was the owner and they still didnt let me in .the cop that had been disrespected the whole time! there then went and got a court order from a judge to get me in the car and informed them that a solicitor will be up there to investigate them. The whole ordeal was a mess from the employees to the business it self they had animals running around babies crying in workers hands workers walking all around u. I believe the business is operating of of scamming people and I will be pursuing with legal action.

This tow was a Private Property Impound.  The first dealings we had were with a young lady who only wanted to clean her car out, money issues.  That is not usually done on a Private Property Impound.  She was told she would have prove ownership and could take out certain things.  She was told the pricing and she left.  The young lady arrived a couple of days later and wanted to get her car out.  She was told the price and she did not agree with that.  The following day she arrived back and her and the other young lady with her were not happy.  I asked for the paperwork to prove ownership, it was in the vehicle.  Due to the fact it was an Impound, we did not have keys.  I asked for the keys and they did not have them.  They left and returned approximately 3 hours later, still upset.  All paperwork was outdated and in the course of all this, the police were called to verify that she was the registered owner.  ********** verbally stated she was the registered owner.  After more dealings, she was allowed access to the vehicle.

It was an unfortunate experience for all involved.  FYI the vehicle is still on our lot, she has not returned for it.

The weekend of 5/5/23 myself and 3 friends went to ************. We booked our stay via Air BnB for a condo at *******************. Per our rental agreement we had 24 hours after arrival to place parking tags in both vehicles or be subject to towing. As the responsible, rule abiding citizens we are, we placed both tags in both vehicles first thing Saturday morning. This was well less than 24 hours after arrival as we got in about 5pm Friday evening. Both parking tags remained in our vehicles throughout our ENTIRE stay. After enjoying an evening out on Saturday we returned to ******************* around 10pm, if not slightly before. We parked my white 2020 ***** Tahoe in a front space near the building (building D) with the tag CLEARLY visible and hanging properly on my rear view mirror. The morning of Sunday, May 7, 2023 we awoke to discover that my vehicle was no where to be found. After panicking because both the rental company and ******************* offices were closed and not reachable via telephone, we began calling tow companies. Luckily the first one we called was the one who had my vehicle. The receptionist argued over the phone that there was no *********** in my car and thus why it was towed. We assured her this was not the case but they nastily demanded $160 CASH ONLY if we wanted our car back. Upon arrival to the tow facility, the door which states Open 24/7 was locked and no one inside. My friend called the number again and the receptionist told her to look around for a guy in a tow truck. Two random men came approaching us asking how they could help and why we were there. Obviously upset, we told them our situation and what vehicle we were there for. We asked to see the car before paying to prove the tag was in there. They refused. After arguing with us and cussing/threatening to call law enforcement I got my vehicle and left. I have a picture of my car in their lot with the tag clearly visible. This company is robbing people and towing illegally.

I am sorry that the young lady is upset.  However, we are contracted by Ocean Forest Village to tow when they contact us.  The security officer contacted us at 10:26 PM on May 6, 2023, to tow a Chevrolet Tahoe White - without a parking pass visible - from their location.

If there are any problems with this, please take it up with Ocean Forest Village Security.

Thank you and again we are sorry that this happened to you on your vacation.

I am rejecting this response because:
Per the tow company receptionist they must have a valid reason to tow. The reason for towing she gave via telephone the morning of 5/7/23 was that there was no visible parking pass in my vehicle. The provided photos prove otherwise. Contrary to the signage posted on their door, they are not in fact open 24/7 as the building was locked and no one was inside upon our arrival. After being berated and threatened in the parking, forced to pay $160 and sign a tow bill with which I do not agree, I was finally granted access to my personal private property. My personal private properly which was unlawfully towed by Quality Towing of ************, **. The parking pass was CLEARLY visible and properly hanging on my rear view mirror. This HAD to have been seen by the tow driver, yet they STILL removed my vehicle from property which I had paid to be at and legally parked on. The fact is they unlawfully towed my vehicle with no valid reason. I will also be contacting Horry County to ensure that this tow was properly reported within one hour as required by state statutes. (Poor) Quality Towing owes me a full refund and a sincere apology.

    Sincerely,

    *********************

As I stated previously - we are  contacted by Security at Ocean Forest Village at 10:26PM on May 5, 2023, to tow the Chevrolet Tahoe, due to no parking pass.

We are contracted by the property to tow when called.  We do not patrol the property and tow automobiles.  We must be called by a very small list of people authorized by Ocean Forest Village to call for vehicles to be towed.

We do not question the reasons behind the tows, when we are called.  We have been informed by Security that the customer had received a warning the night before because no pass was visible.  We have also been informed by the **************** that the pass that is hanging in the windshield is not a Ocean Forest Village pass.  That is why they were towed.

We were provided a picture and report from the **************** from Ocean Forest Village that shows not a proper pass at the time we were called to tow the vehicle.

As I stated before, any issues, please contact Security at Ocean Forest Village.

    Thank you

1/28/2023 Vehicle was towed from **************** which had a handicap sticker in the window. According to Article 17 Section ****- of the state law a vehicle with a handicap sticker can be towed unless in a no parking zone and my vehicle was towed

    Business Response

    Date: 01/31/2023

The property of **************** requires a resident or visitor tag, visible, for all vehicles parked on their property, it is in the Bi-Laws.

The vehicle in question did have a Handicap sticker but neither a resident or visitor tag.

We are contracted by **************** to tow any vehicles without the proper tags. Our company is following the rules set down for us by **************** HOA.

We are very sorry that *************** is upset. She if very welcome to contact her HOA.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
If you read their previous claim by a consumer that lives in the same complex they state that if a vehicle is in a handicap parking spot with a sticker it can't be towed and that was in the contract provided by ****************. This post was made on 09/01/2022 on the BBB site

    Business Response

Please refer to our previous response.

The customer should contact their ***. Since we are contracted with the *** any changes in the towing agreement have to come from them.

    Thank you.

I live in ******** ****** in ****** and my cousin moved to Carolina Willows so of course I am beyond happy to see my family and help them unpack and bring food over etc.. On August 27th I went to visit my cousin to help her unpack, I arrived at her condo a little after 10 pm and was leaving a little after 12:30 am when Quality towing towed my vehicle...I have visited this area in the past since I also have friends living here, including attending a new years eve party and never had my vehicle towed! I am also handicap but since the entire parking lot was open I chose not to park in a handicap but chose to park next to my cousin vehicle. Never have I ever encountered such arrogant, rude, nasty ppl at a company before! A young snot nose kid tell me I don't look handicapped...after 10 back surgeries, spinal fusion, and a permanent stim machine in my spine I am able to walk, but my accident nonetheless left me permanently disabled. Now having such disgusting behavior and ppl working there will leave me with no choice but to contact ADA as my rights as a disabled person were violated. I was a visitor at a family's home had my vehicle stolen by this company! I had to pay $242.00 cash only to get my vehicle out of their lot! This is absurd and against the law! With NO VISITOR parking designated and no signs this company is a scam!

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/09/01) */ We are contracted by Carolina Willows to patrol the parking lots between the hours of 10PM and 8AM. We are told to tow any vehicles that do not have parking passes. If she has the handicapped plate/hang tag, etc, that entitles her to park in handicapped only. Any other parking places require a pass. We are sorry that this happened to her and wish her well. Any issues with Visitor parking, with or without signs, should be brought to the attention of the HOA/Management Company.

In the early morning hours of 8/29/2022, my car was towed by Quality Towing due to not having a parking pass. We had recently purchased the condo and had moved in 8/27/2022. Neither my or the sellers realtor had told us we needed a parking pass. I understand that this is not Quality Towings fault and they had every right to tow the car, based on their information. Our problem is that the battery in our car was switched out. When we went to get the car, it wouldn't start. An employee who released the car to *****, my husband, said - out of nowhere- oh your battery looks to me like it has been tampered with, even though my husband hadn't even opened the hood at this point. We took the car to our mechanic and according to his records, the battery is not even the same brand. Patty at the towing company said no one was ever in our car so how would the employee know that someone tampered with the battery? Our car will not start at all now and on top of the tow fee we have to pay $121 to get a new battery! The car also reeks of an oily "mechanic" smell also. Patty said say they didn't do anything to our car and were never inside the vehicle but that is a lie. She hung up on me and would not let me talk to a manager or owner, refused to give me any corporate info even though she said they are a corporation. I want the money we paid for our battery back, not the whole fee since i accept that we are ultimately responsible for the tow. We did not elect or choose this company and so any disclaimers about damage do not apply to us. Thank you so much for your attention. We are a young couple and my husband has 3 auto immune diseases. Money is obviously tight and this hit us hard. We just want the company to pay for what their employees did.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/09/01) */ We are contracted by Brickyard (the complex they live in) to patrol the parking lot between the hours of 10PM and 8AM. We are told to tow any vehicles that do not have parking passes. This vehicle had no parking pass. All Private Property Impounds are locked (keys are with the customer). This particular vehicle was towed at 3:03AM and picked up by the customer at 8:20AM. The customer had to unlock the vehicle to get in. The vehicle would not start, we had the customer open the hood so we could jump start it for them. It was noticed that the battery covers on the battery terminals were removed - our driver pointed that out to them. We at no time opened their vehicle, nor did any of the employees "take" or do anything to their battery. We are sorry that this happened to them, but we are doing what is contracted between our company and their HOA/Management Company.
