Ascar was supposed to install our countertops this week and they have permantly closed their business. They took a deposit of $2400 in January and have been giving us the runaround for the past couple months. Andre and his emplyee, Nick, have stolen our money and I'm sure many others.

I contracted with this business to fabricate new countertops in February 2024. On February 28, I paid a $2,300 deposit for materials (quartz slab). Andre Luis Ascar Guimaraes, who owns the business, cashed the check the following day. I was told I would have new countertops in 3-5 business day. After not hearing from them for some time, I reached out. He said he would be coming to measure and install. He never came. This happened numerous times. After about 2.5 months, I called the supplier. Despite Andre saying he had bought the slab, the supplier confirmed he never did. He gave many excuses for delays. I called the supplier a second time. While I was on the phone, Andre called them. I heard Andre tell the supplier to lie to me about why there was a delay and why he had not bought the slab. I then fired Andre and requested a refund, to which he agreed in writing. He has told me he approved a refund and to expect a check. It has never arrived. Small claims court cannot locate him to serve a lawsuit. Not only would I like my money back, but I want to prevent this from happening to others. I have spoken with other customers who have had this happen to them. Any assistance is much appreciated.

We went to the Ascar Granite showroom in February and worked with salesman Nick to select counters for our kitchen. He told us that they could be installed in 3-5 days after paying the deposit and having our home measure. Andre came to our home and measured and took the new sink we had purchased for the space. He then proceeded to delay the project weekly for 2 months. He said they were moving, their machine broke, he was getting set up in the new space, many excuses. We finally, out of frustration, called the stone yard. They called Nick on the other line who told the stone girl that the owner stopped paying him so he quit and that Andre was out of money and unable to finish jobs. We called Andre and he - via text - offered us a refund and our sink back. We found another installer. It's been a month and still no refund, still no sink. He has stopped responding to us. As far as I am concerned, he is a Ponzi scheme liar and con man.

Months ago I paid this fabricator $15,400. to buy marble on my behalf to fabricate counters for my kitchen. A few weeks ago when it was time to start fabricating, the company indicated they were having a dispute the company they were to buy the marble from (AGM). They told us they would refund us the full deposit. But despite frequent repetition that they would send us a check, they never have. There are no issues of fact here. I gave them $15,400 to buy marble on my behalf, they couldn’t deliver what we wanted and despite assurances that they would return the money, they haven’t. Failure to do so is a theft. I’d prefer not bringing this to the authorities, the police, but if you can’t help, I’ll have no choice. Hope you can be of assistance
