On January 7th, 2025 at approximately 9:40 AM one of the cadre was very disrespectful towards me. I told him I prefer to shoot a shadow on the berm instead of paper or steel targets, as the dust signature shows your point of impact clearly without having to walk out 600 yards to look at the target. He told me I had to shoot paper or steel targets, then he started gaslighting me and I told him I was a sniper in the *************** and that I know what I’m doing. I then told him I’d comply with his request, but he didn’t stop nagging me. He’d leave and then come back to gaslight me some more. I pointed to the rules, that state I can shoot the berm, but he refused to comply with them. He then told his boss I was bullying him when he was the one that kept coming to where I was to speak down to me. The owner then emailed me stating I have to use a paper or steel target, yet the rules state you can also shoot the berm. I asked for a refund of my pass since I didn’t get to shoot off one round and that I wouldn’t be returning but the owner said “no.” I was not in violation of any rules listed.

Jay H***** the owner and CEO of Champion Defense Shooting Complex located at 2040 Pine Plain Rd Swansea SC 29160. Below you will find the statement of my office manager Aaron B*********. Aaron was on duty and encountered Mr. *********** on January 7,2025. Based off of the statement of my officer manger and Mr. ***********'s actions I will not award a refund. Mr. *********** is more than welcome to use his days pass for his remaining nine days. Our rules are clear and precise and have to be followed to maintain a safe shooting environment for our customers, staff, and neighbors. I have video footage of Mr. *********** conduct, using profanity to my staff or customers will not be tolerated. Thank you.

I Aaron B*********, Manager of the Champion Defense Shooting Complex On 7 Jan 2025 was
performing a visual check of the rifle firing line and the rifle range while Mr. *********** was
setting up his position on the firing line. Once I completed, I approached Mr. ***********, began a
cordial conversation about the morning, and asked a couple of questions about a blue tooth
device he was setting up for his spotting scope. Mr. *********** mentioned that he “prefers to
shoot into the shadows of the berms,” rather than shooting physical paper, cardboard and or
steel targets that are located on the range. Immediately I asked more questions to gain a
complete understanding of his methods to determine if they violated range rules and policy. I
also stepped away to speak with the owner Mr. H***** over the phone to inform and discuss
those methods. As I approached the gentleman, he was already packing his things and
expressed that “the rules were gay, and he was leaving.” I informed the gentleman that he
needs to aim and shoot at targets that he secured to the range backers, or the steel targets the
range has installed. To actively shoot anything other than an intended target was a potential
liability to the range. The berms are designed to catch bullets that miss or go
through their intended target. The berms are not to be used as targets. Mr. *********** chose to
leave on his own, he was never asked to leave the facility. He simply needed to follow the rules
and policies. As I was walking back to my office, 150 yards away, he began to read a section of
the posted range rules for the rifle range. Mr. *********** shouted across the parking lot of the
range. “Bullets must impact target or ******* berm” in a manner to cause a scene. Once the
gentleman exited the range and entered the office he continued to debate and challenge the
wording of the rules and the way he interpreted them. I simply informed Mr. *********** I would
pass his information to Mr. H***** for a follow-up.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: they are cherry picking the audio and visual they collected. If audio is available during our discussions at the firing line, then they would demonstrate that I was being harassed by Aaron. During our first interaction on the firing line, I eventually told him that I would comply with his request of shooting the paper or steel targets. That should have been the end of it, but he kept going. When he left and returned, he got right back onto the same topic of how incompetent I must be if I prefer to shoot shadows on the berm instead of paper or steel targets. I got annoyed and decided to leave. When I pointed out the rules to him, which are attached to the initial report, and stated you have to hit "the fu#*& target or berm" is when I initially swore at him because I felt like I was being targeted. That is when Aaron told me "I had to go now." So his statement about him never requesting, or telling, me to leave isn't true either. He was standing over at the first pistol bay when he said it, so if audio is actually available then that should be heard too. I was the only customer at the range at the time. No other customers were there, so our conversation wouldn't be interrupted by any other noises if he truly has audio available of the entire conversation.

      Sincerely,

      Tim ***********
