On 12-03-24 I contacted McGee Heating & Air in Taylors SC to come out and check my Furnace. The Tech came out told me what was wrong and I needed to replace it. So I got quotes from other companies because I don't do 1 quote and McGee was high. Settled on one. Well when he put in the new unit it was doing the same thing as the old one. So he researched the problem and found out the Neutral line coming from the pole had got cut probably from the Hurricane. So when he got my old unit to his shop there was nothing wrong with it. So under the advised of McGee I spent $8200.00 For nothing. Now I'm over 70 years old on Social Security and still working part time to make ends meet. So taking this amount of money out of savings HURTS, Now if the Tech had been doing his job right he would have told me to call Duke Energy. To have the line fixed instead of assuming he knew what the problem was. Now I have talked to McGee and their just trying to brush me off. I want them to refund me the money I spent on the new unit since I trusted them. I wasn't going to tell the other company to try to put the old one back in. But they will back me up that nothing was wrong with the unit I had. Now no telling how many people have been told that their HVAC needs to be replaced when it didn't. The reason I used McGee the person that originally owned the company I knew and trusted. But he retired and sold the company out to McGee so I thought I could trust them also. MY MISTAKE !!! McGee will probably say well my unit was 26 years old big deal had the thing serviced every year so when the Tech told me what was wrong it was totally opposite from the earlier inspection of it when that company said it had no problems and was good to go. So should I bear the burden of someone assuming they think they know the problem I think not. Because this could very well happen to you.
