Contracted with Travis at Blue Ridge Land Enhancement in May for a 1500 foot long 20 foot wide driveway plus ditches and culverts under drive every 240 feet (6 culverts). Additional rip rap was added and paid for when Travis said he hadn't added it to the original or 2nd quote. The job was paid in full and credited to invoice on 8/6/2023. I have tried since to have the job finished with excuse and story after another. Over 4 months of trying to get the job completed. The drive is about 800 feet and 16 foot wide in sections with 1 culvert. This leaves water flowing to far and then dumping down onto the neighbors.

The customer stated that he contracted a binding agreement with me to build a driveway on his property, he marked the location of the start point and stop point for which he wanted the driveway and he also marked a path in between those points where he said he would like the driveway to be built. He told us numerous times to take the path of least resistance which is exactly what we did. We also took pictures from start to finish with the pole markers he put in the ground. We took measurements of the driveway and while he asked for it to be 1500 ft we started and stopped where he asked us to and the measurement was 1320’ ft with an elevation difference of almost 130’. We discussed not being able to put in another section of culvert and that we would make an attempt to find a location for the culvert and all that was said was okay. Our estimate contract states the possibility of changes due to unforeseen circumstances. We put the original section of culvert at the low area and cut 18ft of dirt to build the road with ditches and water run offs to obtain the flow of the water coming off the driveway. Once the job was completed the customer was extremely happy with the work that was provided and brought us gift cards to a butcher shop (for $100) a piece and also brought myself and the guys at the time on the job a case of beer, not only paying the amount of the invoice but extra. The customer then calls 2-3 weeks later making the complaint that we did not put the culverts in as discussed. He demanded we were coming back to do the work that was discussed and that he wasn’t paying for it to be done. Later finding out that DHEC was called in due to a complaint of water from the driveway the customer stated that DHEC was demanding that I go complete the work or I would be find, I then called chuck from DHEC and was informed that no such thing was said that it was the customers responsibility to fix the issues at hand. I then told the customer that I would come and fix the issues but that he would have to wait because we were currently on a job that we could not leave which ended up going over the original date due to changes in the job, we then had our machine go down due to a tree crushing the cab and we were waiting for a new machine to come in so we could complete the work. We went to complete the work Dec 22nd 2023 and had a billable work amount of $5,300.00 that we did for free. The job has been completed.
