This breeder advertises bench bred or show dog quality English Cocker Spaniels. These dogs typically cost $3000.00. Instead, I received a working bred or field bred English Cocker Spaniel. These dogs typically cost $1000.00. The field bred dogs are not a high quality looking dog and are very energetic. They require much more exercise and are not as well tempered. When the dogs are very young it's difficult to tell the difference between bench bred and field bred dogs. This breeder deceived me and took advantage of the grief I felt after the death of my previous English Cocker Spaniel. Not only did I not get the dog I expected, but, I paid three times as much as the dog is worth.

I have been breeding Bench Bred English  Cocker Spaniels for over 20 years. ** ******* received a bench bred  English cocker not a field bred dog. I tried explaining to him the difference but he will not listen. I am keeping his full brother and I am currently showing him in the show ring. I offered him a 100% full refund if he did not want the dog. He stated he was too attached to send him back. He said he was a wed developer and would make a website to destroy me.  I’m not sure what else I could do to make him happy. He asked for a $1500 refund and he can keep the puppy. I told him I would not do that. I’ve attached photos of a bench and a field bred English cocker. They look nothing alike. Please feel free to contact me with any other questions.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.

The dog this breeder sent me is not a bench bred dog. My previous two dogs were English Cocker Spaniels. Both were bred from champion English Cocker Spaniels. I know the difference. This dog looks like a field bred dog. He is hyperactive with an enormous amount of energy. His ears and face look like a field bred dog. His fur is shorter.

She didn't have this dog a month before I bought him. Suddenly, she had the color I wanted. She sent me an email with verbiage that sounded like it was going out to several people but I was the only one on the list. Who knows where she got this dog and how much profit she made off me with her deception.

I didn't say I would destroy her. I said I would expose her to prevent her from doing this to someone else.

Yes, I'm now attached to the dog and he is attached to me. I wouldn't abandon him like that and return him to her after he is bonded to me. The least she could do is refund some of the money she charged me.

This affects the next fifteen years of my life but that doesn't seem to matter to her.

    Regards,

I am sorry that this dog does not compare to your past dog. Every dog's temperament is different. The mother in this line is more active then some of my other dogs. She loves to swim, hike and chase balls. I feel like if you give it time, you will love this dog just as much as you did your previous one. It his hard to loose them, they are family.

His blue roan brother brother is currently co-owned by Tina P*****, and she is planning on showing him in the ***** dog show. This is a bench bred line, obviously more active then your previous lines. That puppy was born in my home and I have had him the entire time. There were three puppies in that litter, One female, sold to a family in Aiken, SC  and I held back two of the dogs, I knew I wanted to show one of them. When I heard your story, I felt bad for you, I knew I would be placing one of the boys, as I could not keep them both. It is very had to judge show quality at 8 weeks, when pups typically go home, so potential show pups I hold longer. Typically 4-6 months before I place or keep them. I am not sure how to prove to you that this line is bench. You do need to have him groomed, as he is 5 months old now and you will she his structure more clearly. You should have groomed him several times by now, as it is important to keep their coat in shape. If you wait to long it will be very stressful on the dog.  Please call a field bred breeder and go see some of their dogs, I will promise you you will know the difference when you see one in person.
