On 4/13/24 I went to the Seneca H&R Block tax office owned by Bonnie M**** to five my income taxes. My wife had made an appointment for me at 9am on the 13th of April. Gary G***** walked up and said he would be helping me with my taxes. I said ok and walked to his office- he said I have your documents and it looks straight forward. I said ok great! What didn’t realize is the receptionist didn’t scan in a 1099 for an early distribution of retirement income. Gary ask me my address the I said it may be easier if I just give you my drivers license and my social as both of these are correct. He ask my my marital status and I told him married filing jointly. This must have caused some type of malfunction with Gary as he started asking me prying personal questions. He ask me why we were filing separate, if we were still married, he didn’t understand why anyone would file separate- he then ask if we had a stable relationship. I was a little shocked by his questions. He then out of the blue ask me about an address of a house we sold around five years ago. I told Gary we no longer own this house and the address on the license he was holding in his hand was correct. Gary then saw that I had a w2 from Minnesota this seemed to perplex Gary. He asked if I lived in Minnesota and worked there. I said yes that why I have the w2 from living and working in Minnesota. Gary entered everything and he asked if I wanted to do direct deposit or was a check fine- I selected a check. I paid this H&R Block office 251.00 to do my taxes and left. later looked at the return and Gary had filed it with the wrong address and I didn’t see the 1099 the should have been my packet. To put it mildly I was very upset. Gary and the owner were unhelpful - I filed a complaint at H&R corporate and they scheduled a tax apt where I was told an amendment had to be filed - due to Gary’s screw up. I then paid 5.68 to mail an amendment to Minnesota as the didn’t file amendments electronically.

I Dana H****** have spoken with this client 3 times myself, I am the owners asst.  When I first spoke with *** ***** He was very agitated and confused on his tax papers.  He wanted to file married filling separate, and when filing that way our tax pros are required to ask certain question to accurately file the return correctly.  I apologized to *** ***** about the address being entered incorrectly. I told him how to fix that issue and gave him the correct paperwork for him to fill out and for us to send in.  I have spoken to *** ***** again about the 1099 that was left off,  the client did not have 1099 when he originally came in the office so his return had to be amended and when  he amended his return it fixed the issue with the address.  I told him
I would be sending him a check for 100 to compensate him for his troubles and client was happy with that.  He asked me to mail it to him.  I verified the correct address and mailed his check to him.  We have not heard from the client since I mailed out the check.

Please let me know if you need anything else from me concerning this matter

    Thanks

    Dana H******

consumer very disappointed in the way they were treated by the business and it wasn’t an issue with the consumer being confused it was an issue with the business not following through with their 100 percent satisfaction guarantee and not standing behind their services.  Consumer is fear-full of an audit after the haphazard way they handled consumers taxes.
