      I paid a deposit on this apartment on August, 18th. I have accepted a position in Brookings and was to be moving from Sioux Falls. I paid the deposit with the agreement that the place would be cleaned, they told me that I would have to pay rent from the day it was available. They called me Friday, Sept. 15th stating it would be ready as of Monday the 18th. I told them I would be able to come do the inspection on the 19th. I went to the office to do the inspection, I had already taken out the cash to pay from Sept. 18th through the 31st of October. When I went to the office ***** ******** refused to take me to do the inspection on the apartment until I paid more. So being honest and attempting to show that I am an honest renter, I always pay ahead, I gave her cash in the amount of $1,140.00 before she would even take me she expected me to pay the 345 starting from Sept 18th. We went to look at the place smelled awful I could not breath in there, so I attempted to open the glass door and it was broken, it would not budge she said "We'll have to have that fixed". There was nothing in there that had been cleaned the walls were left filthy and the bathroom and kitchen were gross too, the bathroom had other people's body hair in the sink, bathtub, and on the toilet. I left and went back to ask for my money they refused to give me any of it on the 19th (all on the same day). I went back on the 21st and asked for it back again explaining both times that they broke their end of the lease by making me pay from the 18th, we looked at it on the 19th and it had not been cleaned then. They refuse to give any of my money back. They attempted to make me sign a "vacating notice" when I never moved in and are trying to keep my deposit as well. When I went the first time asking questions, one of their workers by the name of Lacey rushed me and I told her to get away from me. I have videos of them saying it was not cleaned and they still refuse to refund me. I am a single parent.
