1 starThe service department is very slow and miss leading. Took a television there for repair over a month ago. They keep saying they are waiting for a part, not sure that is what's going on. They need better management in the service department.Review fromMary P

1 starThis place needs help. We got a fridge 2.5 years ago they damaged it bringing it in so had to order a new door took 2 years to get the door then he forgot to put the seal on the door so our food was going bad. Finally fixed that. But I had to call the ceo both times to get them to do it. Do not buy local from them save your money and go somewhere else. Worse service never!!!Review fromDenise R

1 starWe ordered a bed with head board foot board and frame on Dec 24th 2023 . We r waited days before we had to call them to see where our order was as at. Finally on Jan 30th they brought us our order , how ever wrong bed , they brought the right head board but no foot board or box spring or frame. So the wonderful delivery drivers took it back . Now we waited a waited to hear from them again on our order and we had to make the call agin. They said well the bed might be here today or tomorrow but the rest of the stuff they don’t know. What crappy service . Never again will we shop there so be ware . Canceled our order!!Review fromApril G.

We bought a Serta mattress at Karl's in Spencer Iowa. The store owner showed us all the floor model mattresses. He encouraged us to try them for a few minutes. We said several times to him that we need a mattress that is both supportive and cool to sleep on. He said we can try it for 60 days. We chose a pillow-top plush with good support but our first night we woke up at 2 AM extremely hot from the memory foam in the bed. The basement bedroom is kept at 62 F. We had a lightweight comforter and sheet. We tried to sleep on it a few more nights but it was uncomfortably hot that neither of us could sleep on it, had to sleep on couch or old bed. Into our 3rd week of trying, we called Karl's and said it's too hot for us to sleep on. They said we have to wait 30 days to qualify for an exchange. We then exchanged the mattress for a more expensive Serta mattress (3 snowflakes/icomforteco) based on store owner and his wife's recommendation. The 2nd mattress we tested in-store did not have the pillow-top support but contained more layers of foam/cooling components "so it stated" on the floor-model. For the short time we could lay on it, we felt it may possibly provide support for our varied sleeping positions but would not know about cooling part until we slept on it. We said to both of them we hope this one is a lot cooler to sleep on for this higher price. Owner's wife adamantly said oh you will sleep a lot cooler! That was NOT the case, it had worse support and not cool. Called Karl's after first week, told owner's wife we are not happy and we want a refund. She became negative towards our complaints about 2nd bed saying "Are you kidding me? Corp will not allow a refund, it's one and done". We said no one told us that! She said they had to throw out first bed. Owner said same 'one and done' 3 days later. We said we were not told that. Better Business Bureau gives the Serta mattress a F rating. We cannot file a complaint with Serta since we purchased it through Karl's.April G.

CONTEXTUAL TIMELINE:
9/23/2023 - our first time in-store trying out mattresses (took pict of mattress flyer for blue lagoon nights/perfectsleeper w/plush pillow top)
9/25/2023 - went back to Karl's to place order for king size mattress along with a Motion Air base. $2,084.36
10/02/2023 - bed arrived at Karl's after 6pm
10/04/2023 - we made it Karl's to pick up bed/base
10/19/2023 - called Karls about bed being way too hot (we did not have a mattress topper on it the first week and it was already hot, so we tried a topper and bed was still hot) They just told us to remove topper which did not help and we knew that and told them that as well. This is when they said we had to wait 30 days to do an exchange.April G.

10/22/2023 - we went back to Karl’s to order new mattress. We tested short time laying on the high-end mattress (Took pict of 3-snowflake rated iCOMFORTECO/F30LTX) During this visit, owner admitted to us he recalls us mentioning several times in our first visit how we wanted a cool-rated mattress. So why didn’t he inform us that first mattress we picked with a supportive pillow-top was not rated cool at all? Mattress did NOT physically have a single snowflake on it, only Serta logo, despite floor advertising flyer on it showed one snowflake (false advertising). In our opinion, they sold us the wrong mattress and that was not our fault. They failed to listen to our specific needs as a customer to ensure we were getting a mattress that would meet our needs more appropriately for the 60-day trial period so we could fully test it out.
11/19/2023 - we took first bed back to Karl’s and picked up the 2nd bed. Neither the owner or his wife ever told us we could not return this 2nd bed if we were not happy. Our understanding was we are still doing the 60-day trial period, as advertised. If we had been told that we cannot return the 2nd bed on 10/22/23, we definitely would NOT have taken the risk on paying an additional $1,444.50 for the 2nd bed when we would never know how the bed would be for us until we slept on it during trial period.
12/01/2023 - called Karl’s during lunch to inform of our disappointment with 2nd bed. This is when the owner’s wife got on phone, instead of owner whom I asked to speak with at the time my call was picked up by someone else. We did not appreciate being treated negatively by her.
12/04/2023 - the owner of Karl’s called me 3 days later to repeat same ‘one and done’ message his wife stated and that the bed could not be returned for a refund. I told him we were never told that information otherwise we would not have spent more money on a bed we cannot return and we didn’t know if we’ll be able to sleep on it. Although he tried being nice by saying keep me updated on your bed, he already said they cannot give us a refund? So that does not make any sense!?
IN SUMMARY:
It was our understanding we are still within the trial period of 60-days so why should we be penalized for not being able to return it? As stated on their website, https://karlsonline.com/sale-terms, special ordered items have a 25% non-refundable deposit which, to us, is equivalent to a recycling fee when returning an item to their store.
WE ARE VERY DISAPPOINTED ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE AND JUST WANT TO RETURN THE BED and get a refund minus the 25%. We have the box and plastic it came in because we felt we’re still doing the TRIAL and if we didn’t like it, we should be able to return it.Review fromJohn M

1 starWe purchased a refrigerator from Karl's. It was on the display floor and was unplugged. We were told that the refrigerator had only been taken out of the box and placed on the floor.
When the regrigerator was delivered, ice cubes fell out of the unit. I went to Karl's to try and see a manager but was only allowed to talk to another sales person. I asked him if when preping a refrigerator for delivery, do they verify the ice maker works. He said never. So I asked him how was it possible for a regrigerator that was unplugged on the floor and delivered a week later to have ice cubes in it.
He went away for about 10 minutes and came back and asked for my phone number. Its been a week and no response. I feel Karl's sold me a used refrigerator but sold it to me at full price. I cannot prove this but ice falling out of a new refrigerator make this highly likely.Review fromStan T

1 starService team is terrible. Spoke with ******* and ****** on multiple occasions on the parts for my fridge that came damaged, and its now been a YEAR and its still not fixed due to there parts team not ordering parts when they tell me they have, or there service guy canceling the morning of the repair. The 2 service ladies are rude and disrespectful on the phone. My husband and I have both taken off of work to have the service guy come out for them to cancel us at the last minute. The preach over and over that they want to respect the customer and their employees time with servicing us but all I see is poor customer **********************. When I call and ask for a time to expect when the service guy, they give me a 4 hour window and when he's still not here they say they can't give me an time frame and he'll be here when he gets here. I should have listened to friends and colleagues when they advised me not to get appliances from ****'s. Lessoned learned.Review fromEmily S

5 starsI purchased a package of appliances from Karl's during the pandemic. The salesperson communicated the expected shipping times to me and the appliances arrived within that time. Each piece was delivered and installed to my satisfaction by Karl's. The refrigerator did have a couple dents on the door. The delivery person told me new doors would be ordered and replaced at no charge. A few weeks later Karl's called me to schedule a time to install the new doors. I am very pleased with the service I have been given.Review fromJacqueline A

We purchased 3 appliances from Karl's in Bemidji, MN in December of 2022, one of which was a ********* range. The salesman, Isaac, told us if we had ANY issues, to contact him. Well, the oven never worked correctly. It would start to pre heat, never get to temperature, then stop heating all together. I made several calls to Isaac, who had me try several things that did not work. Finally, I called ********* myself to get a service appointment. The clock assembly is bad and a new one won't be available to send, MAYBE, February 15th! I have already been without a working oven for over a month! Isaac hasn't done a thing! Then ********* had the nerve that I could purchase a new range for 40% off!! Really?? I just spent $900 on a new range!Karl's TV, Appliance & Furniture

Met with Jackie 1/20/23 in the afternoon, came up with a resolution of swapping out her range for a new one so she no longer had to wait for service or for part to get into stock at ********* for service to be completed.
Jackie picked up new range on Saturday 1/21/2023 and brought back old range that did not work out of the box.
I will ask Jackie to update her review.Jacqueline A

Yes Karls did swap out ranges but we had to take floor model. They also would not deliver it unless we paid $75! We had to take the defective range back and pick up the floor model. This oven does work but would of been nice to have been compensated for our time and trouble!
