    My daughter and I had traveled over 10 hours to get to Keystone. When we arrived at 10:30, we were told that we had to be there by 10 to keep our room. (This information wasn't in the confirmation email I had received.) In fact, they had run my credit card, and it was declined because I was traveling far from home, and my card company was concerned it was a fraudulent purchase. The hotel claimed that they had made several calls to let me know, but I showed no missed calls or voicemails on my phone, and we had good signal the entire day. It took about five seconds to rectify the issue, but they had already given our room to someone else. There were no hotel rooms available within a 50-mile radius as it was a holiday weekend.

    My daughter and I had to sleep in our vehicle with no apology or concern from the front desk. When I received an email the following Monday from the hotel, they did apologize but then also said, "I am sorry that you are unhappy with our policy regarding declined credit cards." I called the hotel to ask to see a copy of their credit card policy, but they didn't have one. I've traveled quite a bit in the last couple of years, and I've never had a hotel run my card before I arrived and haven't had trouble with a later arrival. I was completely shocked that they would do this and be so nonchalant about it.
