I purchased a motorcycle windshield online from Klock Werks on February 19, 2023. The purchase went well, and the product arrived on time. When I went to mount it, the screw holes were not aligned properly. I notified the company, and they had me ship the windshield back. I was expecting a new windshield, however, they sent the same windshield back to me stating that the holes were correct with some verbal instructions on how to install the windshield. The holes were definitely not aligned properly, but with some effort, I was able to get the screws in the second time. The instructions sent in the box by the company (**** ********) stated to "torque fasteners to factory specifications." I torqued the fasteners to the ****** Motorcycle factory specifications of 36 ± 6 in. lbs. (4.0 ± 0.6 Nm). After it was installed, I immediately noticed that the windshield had cracked around the upper right hole (***** ********). On March 21, 2023, I emailed the company and told them that the windshield had cracked after installation, and I sent them a photo of the crack. I informed them that I did not over tighten the screws and that the windshield was defective. I requested that they send me a replacement windshield. The company representative, Lisa, replied on March 22, 2023 stating that she felt I overtightened a screw. They said I could purchase another one at **% off and I would have to pay for shipping. I responded by saying that the windshield was defective and should be covered under their warranty. I informed them that based on this experience, I did not want to buy another windshield and asked if they could simply apply a **% refund for the cracked windshield, and that would be a fair settlement. The company never responded back to my email. It is critical to note that in Lisa's email to me on March 22nd she wrote, "This hardware can not be tightened down at all." This contradicts their own instructions and implies their product is too fragile even for factory specs.
