On 09/14/2023, while visiting Rapid City, I saw The Spice & Tea Exchange. I had purchased from other Florida franchise stores and wanted to repurchase an item (Florida Sunshine Salt). They were out of the prepackaged salt, but the manager working was happy to package some for me. As I had purchased it several times before from other franchise stores, I was familiar with what the price was (3.8 oz refill bag @ $13.99). Since I use it often, I told the manager to fill a larger bag and price accordingly. But when she totaled it at the register, she charged me almost 3 times more than the cost on the website (spiceandtea.com) or instore prepackaged sizes (that the store was out of). As I stated previously, a 3.8 oz. refill bag sells for $13.99......she charged me $172.55 for 17.1 oz of the same salt!!! ($172.55 plus $10.70 in taxes = &183.25). Though I should have had enough sense to not purchase, I was in shock of the price and just handed her my CC. After returning home, I had time to process it and would have returned it, but I live 13 hours away from Rapid City, Sd. I called the store 2 times. The manager assured me the owner would call me back, but no one ever called me back. I believe I was excessively over charged and just want to be charged what the franchise store price and the website price is for the same product. I have not used any of the product yet and have my receipt and packaging from previous purchases of same product.
