This company is a predatory vendor. They make it extremely difficult to cancel and continue to charge you after submitting a cancellation notice. Derek (customer service rep) and **** (customer service manager) refused to cancel my subscription after multiple attempts on my behalf as the business owner to cancel their services. I had to include the South Dakota Attorney General and the South Dakota Division of Consumer Protection to get them to cancel.

    Dear *** *******

On 4/21/2025 we received our first call from your business in months around 10:20 AM after one follow up call from your to confirm your billing and to get added to your account  your account as cancelled at 10:30 AM CST.  Your account was signed up by a **** ** at your facility and authorized users on the account were entered in as **** ** * *** *. at that time.  That is why we had to have verification from one of them or confirmation on billing to confirm your association with the account. This is done protect you and all of our dealers.

Cars for sale will NOT communicate with me efficiently on releasing our domain. I will happily pay the fee for releasing it. These guys are making it extremely difficult to do business with and I would not recommend to anyone! It says they only review every quarter which is unacceptable! When they are taking your money they don’t review it every quarter but when you need your domain be prepared for it to be one of the worst experiences dealing with a “professional” company. I would never recommend this company to anyone and if I have to take legal action to acquire my domain that has my business name on it that they are trying to squat on I most certainly will without hesitation. They do not own the rights to my business name! Will not ever ever ever recommend this company to anyone!’

    Hello,

Our apologies for the inconvenience caused on the transfer delay, the transfer has been expedited and options to move over the domain are moving forward.  I was also informed by our sales rep of a discussion regarding a potential upgrade to our new system, we hope and look forward to continuing our long-term relationship.  Thank you for your business!

I contacted *************** to purchase a website and dealer management system for my auto dealership. I was given a brief demo that showed the bare bones of a DMS that seemed to suffice for my business needs. Once I got to a point where I was actually ready to use the software I quickly realized it’s an incomplete product. The “DMS” software they are selling does not have the required FTC documents or state integrations to complete a full transaction. This is a blatant misrepresentation of products and services. This is not a fully developed dealer management system. At best it’s a DMS in development and should not be offered to consumers. Completing transactions with the current system can result in penalties and fines to any dealership that purchases this product. When contacted, ***************’s response was, “thank you for this information, we’ll pass it along to our developers.” They denied my request for a full refund stating services were rendered when I was sold a product/service that was grossly misrepresented.

Hello, we are sorry to hear about your complaint and want to
do our best to resolve this for you.
When you & our rep signed up, we actually had two different systems, your
sales rep reached out to you this week and updated your system to our newest system
that does provide a fuller DMS solution.
With our new MAC system, you do have access to state paperwork and the
system has the ability where we can add in custom paperwork for your specific
needs for your dealership if we don’t have it available.  These are printable solutions for the point
of sale.   We know schedules are very
busy and encourage you when you have time to run thru the new system to review.      We
would love to show you everything, when you are ready, please call either our
support team for a full training or your sales rep to walk you through
everything.  We can be reached at

I own a car dealership and in 2007 I decided that I need a website for the business and signed up with Carsforsale to create a website for me. When I signed up the rep said they can purchase the domain for me and convinced me that its easier for them to do it for us. In 2024 I decided to switch website providers and e-mailed their domain department to obtain ownership of the domain name and they replied with a message that stated every quarter they review these requests. Just like a alot of other dealers that have complained... I still have not heard from them and it's been over 3 months. Their quater is up and I KNOW HOW and have TRANSFERRED domains with little to no cost, INSTANTLY, and in less than 5 minutes. CARSforSALE needs to CHANGE THIS POLICY IMMEDIATELY! Holding a domain name hostage in this way is like being a childhood bully. Disguting as a business practice, for the obvious reason that a website name becomes akin to a landmark on the internet. I also e-mailed them again and offered for them to allow me access to make the transfer myself (do all of the work for them) and they refused. I don't know of a company that does this except scamming scummy ones. This alone makes the difference for me. Everything else about the company is decent, but this tactic is borderline criminal.
ALLOW ALL CLIENTS TO OWN THEIR DOMAINS!!!! WARNING TO ALL CAR DEALERS USING CARSFORSALE > DO NOT LET THEM CONTROL YOU DOMAIN!!! THEY ARE TERRIBLE AT IT AND WILL HOLD YOUR DOMAIN NAME HOSTAGE USE WHEN YOU CHANGE PROVIDERS !!!

We received your initial request for the domain transfer on 5/20/24 and it was entered in our system for review.  As we previously noted, we review domain transfer requests on a quarterly basis. The review process is very important as we need to ensure there are no trademark infringements with the domain name.  Due to your level of concern, we expedited the review for you and reviewed this week. We are offering two fair options. The first option is that we can transfer the requested domain to you immediately per the standard process that was shared by our Domains Team. In this process, we will do the verification and technical work to ensure the transfer is done cleanly. This is why we ask for a nominal service fee. The second option is that the domain you are seeking will come up for renewal on 7/17/2025 at which time we will not renew the domain, so you can then take ownership on your own at that time.
