Front office staff Kylie was extremely rude verbally and rolling her eyes at my daughter. Kylie demanded my daughter's social security number which is not required to process an insurance claim or to look up insurance information. Kylie threatened not to allow my daughter to see the doctor without her social security number or my social security number. I spoke to the billing department, and they stated they need a social security number to process billing invoice, this is not true I have 40 years of Medical/Dental billing experience and have worked for both hospital systems and several private practices in Sioux Falls. You do not need a Social Security number to process billing invoice, and you do not need a Social Security number to look up insurance information, except Tricare & Medicare. It is not right that they are deceiving patients who are not aware. Staff very rude and uneducated, I would never recommend this practice to anyone.

River Ridge does request the subscriber’s social security number when filling out patient registration. This is requested as some insurance companies use social security numbers as subscriber ID’s or request this information. Additionally, if the account is past due and is sent to collections a social security number from the patient or guarantor is needed. If a patient should want to opt out of providing a social security number, they can sign our social security opt out form. This was offered to the patient during check in. The patient was satisfied and understanding after registration was completed and the process was explained to her. We are sorry your daughters experience was not up to your standard and we hope we are given the chance to make this right with you!
