    Hello there!

Midwest Ear Nose and Throat has a "Free Screening Voucher" for a free hearing test listed on their website at ******************************************************************* I called to set up an appointment with them for a free hearing test as I was having ringing in my ears and confirmed over the phone that this first hearing test was free. My appointment was on 08/04/2023 and I confirmed a second time with the receptionist that the screening I was getting was free.

My complaint is that I recently received a bill about two weeks ago from Midwest Ear Nose and Throat for $334.48. The statement date is 08/31/2023, the account is 111424, and the statement ID is *******************. I figured this bill was a mistake and called Midwest Ear Nose and Throat and was transferred to several people and was told by them that my hearing test was not free, though I had presented and initially called to schedule my appointment based upon the online voucher for a free test. The reason they gave me was that I had a ringing in my ear and they had to do an extra test to check my ear's health. I feel like I was scammed, as I was never informed during my appointment that I was even taking an "extra" test as I had never been there before and thought everything was standard procedure. No one ever stated to me that I was taking an extra test that would cost me any money beyond the "Free Hearing Test." If I had known it was not free, I would not have made that appointment in the first place.

The person on the phone told me they would look into it and try to have someone call me back. They have not called me this entire previous week. I have tried calling them and haven't been able to reach them as their lines are either busy or I get sent to a voicemail with no response.

Where can we go from here? Is there any assistance you can give me? I don't know how I'm going to get the three hundred dollars to pay them and I don't want to get into legal trouble for not paying.

I spoke to ******* today in regards to his complaint.  Explained that the "free screening voucher" was for a basic "hearing test" and that a disclaimer was noted on the bottom of the voucher.  Because he was having specific symptoms as noted in his complaint, he was scheduled for a diagnostic audiogram and physician visit which fell outside of a basic "hearing test".  Apologized if this was not communicated to him.  We mutually agreed that we will not bill him for the audiogram, however, he will be responsible for the physician visit.  An updated invoice will be mailed to Michael.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

The company has reached out to me and offered to settle the issue by reducing the charges and said they would send me a new invoice to match. You should not need to contact them again.
