My car was towed and DTS violated state law in my attempts to retrieve my vehicle. Officer **** with the ********************************** has jurisdiction, as the ***************** over this deceitful predatory company. He met with the company and appears to have colluded with them in an effort to extort money that isn't owed. I would like to speak with the principle in an effort to give them one last attempt to return my vehicle for the amount owed of $155, to avoid a lawsuit where I will seek the full payoff amount of my vehicle, around $30,000 and termination of Officer Bean.Business Response

WE WERE CALLED OUT TO PICK THIS VEHICLE UP FOR AN ACCIDENT SECENE ON. 7/3/24. OWNER CAME INTO OUR OFFICE AND RELEASED VEHICLE TO SEDWICK INSURANCE COMPANY ON 7/5/24. OWNER CALLED OUR OFFICE ON 7/8/24 ADVISING THAT SHE WANTED VEHICLE TO GO TO A BODY SHOP. ON 7/30/24 SEDWICK INS COMPANY CALLED TO VERIFY WE HAD VHEICLE AND TO THE CURRENT CHARGES AT THAT TIME, WHICH THEY WERE GIVEN. ON 7/31/24 COPART CALLED FOR THE CHARGES AND WERE GIVEN CHARGES. COPART IS A COMPANY THAT PICKS UP VHEICLE IN THE MEMPHIS AREA FOR INSURANCE COMPANIES.
ON 8/8/24 WE RECIEVED A CERITFIED LETTER FOR THE OWNER OF VEHICLE STATING THAT WE WERE OVERCHARGING HER AND THAT WE HAD NO RIGHT TO PICK HER VEHICLE UP. YET SHE HAD ALREADY BEEN INTO OUR OFFICE AND FILED OUT A RELEASE FORM FOR INSURANCE COMAPNY AND THEN CALLED BACK LATER TO ADVISE US SHE WANTED IT TO GO TO A BODYSHOP.
ON 8/13 I RECEIVBED A CALL AND EMAIL FOR YOLANDA WHOM IS OVER THE MEMPHIS PERMITS OFFICE REGARDING OWNER COMPLAINT ABOUT CHARGES. I ADVISED MS YOLANDA THAT IT WAS A SHELBY COUNTY CALL NOT A MEMPHIS POLIC CALL. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT SHE DIRECTED THE OWNER TO CALL SHELBY CO WRECKER COORDIANTOR. OFFICER BEAN ( SCSD WRECKER COORDIANTOR REACHED OUT TO ME AND I SENT HIM OUR INVOICE WITH THE CURRENT CHARGES AT THAT TIME AND HE ADVISED ME THAT SHELBY COUNTY STORAGE RATES WERE $40.00 PER DAY. I HAD STORAGE RATES ON INVOICE AT $30.00 PER DAY. I ADJUSTED INVOICE TO REFLECT THE CORRECT DAILY STORAGE AMOUNT OF $40.00 PER DAY.
OWNER IS BEING CHARGED FOR THE INTITAL TOW AND STORAGE OF HER VEHICLE. SHE HAS REFUSED TO PAY VEHICLE OUT I ASSUME IN HOPES THAT SHE WILL NOT HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING. THE CURRENT CHARGES AS OF TODAY ON THIS VEHUICLE ARE $3,812.60.
WE HAVE FILED PAPERWORK WITH THE STATE OF TENNESSEE WHICH BY LAW WE ARE REQUIRED TO DO WITHIN 3 DAYS. BY LAW WE ARE REQUIRED TO FILE PAPERWORK ON ANY AND ALL VEHICLES WE TOW TO OUR LOT WITHIN 3 BUSINESS DAYS. IF VEHICLE IS NOT PAID OUT AND PICKED UP 30 DAYS FOR FILE DATE VEHICLE CAN AND WILL BE PUT UP FOR AUCTION. AS I STATED BEFORE, WE HAVE FILED ON THIS VEHICLE AND ARE WITH IN OUR RIGHT PUT THIS VEHICLE UP FOR AUCTION.
VEHICLE WAS ACTUALLY SET TO BE AUCTIONED OFF 8/24/24. HOWEVER, I HELD VEHICLE FROM AUCTION THINKING OWNER WAS GOING TO PAY IT OUT AND PICK IT UP. VEHICLE HAS HOWEVER BEEN PUT ON OUR AUCTION LIST FOR 9/29/24.
OWNER IS AND WAS NOT OVERCHARGED. CHARGES ON INVOICE ARE CURRENT.
IF VEHICLE IS NOT PAID OUT AND PICKED UP BY 9/29/24, IT WILL BE SOLD.

I am rejecting this response because:I will not litigate the matter here. DTS is dishonest and are
aware that they have broken the State of Tennessee Law regarding the towing of
vehicles. Officer Bean, is designated as the point of contact for the Shelby
County Sheriff’s Department and I finally was able to communicate with him as the
responsible party, after being directed to various agencies and departments.
It is clear, DTS Towing has no intentions of doing the right
thing; but, has every intention of trying to collect excessive charges or sale
my vehicle for a profit. I have brought this to the attention of all concerned;
including, the owner of DTS Towing through this BBB filing. If they choose not
to release my car for the amount due of $155, which represents a $125 Tow Fee
and $30 for one day of storage; the price I was quoted, the matter will be
escalated to the highest point.

On September 12, 2023, my previous employer Regional One Health called DTS Towing to tow my 2021 ****** Altima from a patient parking lot located at ******************************************************************** As a result of my car being towed, it was also damaged by the towing truck. I have lower frame damage to my car which is consistent with a tow truck attaching their equipment to my car.My vehicle has no previous damage to it as it was just purchased last year.When I noticed my car was damaged, I contacted the business the next morning, and was told I needed to send an email with photos. I did so on September 14, and since then, my calls went unanswered until October 19. I finally was able to speak to ****** who refused to provide her last name. She states they didnt do the damage and to file it on my insurance or call the police.She refused to allow me to view photos that were taken before and after.Im assuming this is because she knows the damage was caused by the towing.This damage is unacceptable and will cost thousands of dollars to repair.I want to be fully reimbursed for the damage, and the suffering this has caused me.Initial Complaint

The ******* ***************** utilized this company to tow my car and they clearly used a forklift to move my vehicle. They damaged the frame and completely severed my front passenger wheel axle causing expensive damage to my car. My car is not operable at this moment due to the wheel axle and the front bumper and frame are falling off as well. This is very unprofessional towing and nobody should have to deal with they way they mistreat your vehicle. We are charged for them towing your car and then they demolish it while it is in their possession. They are notorious for doing this if you look at their personal reviews online. Memphis ***************** should stop using them and I will make sure that I reach out to my connections on that issue as well. Nobody should have to go through this.Initial Complaint

My car was towed to the 633 East St. lot on July 18th and I picked it up on July 31st and when ai got to the lot I noticed that my car had been tampered with and were missing parts I told the guy on the lot this and he told me that they have break ins a lot and that when cars are on there lot a certain amount of days that this would happen. Being that my car wasnt drivable it had to be towed when it was dropped off I asked the tower if he could move it closer to the curve he told me no because he had already dropped it off his truck and if he did anything eke itll be extra money I told him I couldnt pay more and asked him to please just move it closer to the curve he called me a racial slur and got back in his truck and pulled off. I was in a 3 car accident on Dec 9th. The *** advised me that my car was not safe to drive. They contacted a Towing Company. DTS Towing, ************************. The accident was not my fault and ticket given to one of the other drivers. 3 cars involved. State Farm, ************************* office called about getting the car, but was told that I would have to drive down to the Towing company DTS and sign a release for them to have the car moved to ********************* Auto shop. I drove down to DTS and they would not allow me to see my car or go on the lot, but was forced to sign a release to have it forwarded to State Farm or the car would not be moved. I did such and days later ********************* contacted me and said, Hey was this car wrecked on both sides? I told ******** at ********************* it was not.... He said he noticed how well the car was kept and only noticed that the accident stated on the passenger side and said he noted when it arrived to him, via DTS Towing, that there was some damage that looked very current. I drove over to look and made contact to State Farm and they reached out to the owner ************************* and he sent back a copy of the release stating that they were not responsible and I have called twice with no return call. I spoke to State Farm and they have flagged this company as they do not want to do business with them - However, You don't have a choice when the ******* Police make the call for Tow. On 08/04/2022 My car was towed from downtown ******* river front . I have a 2009 ******* Sonata . This is a brand new car that had no issues at all as far as driving. I was admitted into the hospital on 08/04/2022 also and I was released on 08/10/2022 .
