      About two years ago, my sister went to rehab (Blackbear Lodge) in *********, *******. Her month long stay was paid for and I was promised it would be a one month stay minimum. They were negligent and abusive. To start, her detox was only a couple of days. When she was moved out of detox, she was still fully detoxing and the team later realized she was still having full blown withdrawals. She was threatened by another patient who used her hands as an imaginary gun and shot at my sister. My sister was threatened with physical violence. The clinical and medical team discharged her early, saying she was ready to go to sober living. I begged them to reconsider. I emailed her counselor, if she walks out those doors thinking shes well, shes going to die. They discharged her anyway. They failed to administer the Vivitrol shot upon discharge (which they charged her insurance for) and messed up her medications. We couldnt get in touch with them. My sisters attorney couldnt either (he needed completion documents). By the time they finally got back to me, she was dead. They refused to answer any attempt to contact them after learning of her death. The whole thing was so atrocious that it ultimately led to the death of my mother as well. I never got a lawyer or anything because I have been too devastated to take any action. I have PTSD and multiple other diagnoses from this event. But it makes me sick to think that families still trust the center with the lives of their loved ones. And I will make it my lifes mission to make sure my sisters story is used to help and protect other vulnerable victims seeking treatment.
