We ordered our newborn son's birth certificate in October from Vitalchek as it is the only company in our state we are able to go through. Shortly thereafter, we were told that the order had shipped and we would receive it soon. We waited a few weeks and never received it. We called and they said that it should have been delivered but if we waited 45 days, we could request a courtesy copy. We requested a courtesy copy after that time had passed and they said that we should expect it in a few business days. Once again, nothing was shipped to us. We emailed them, they said they would send another copy after reconfirming our address. Surely enough, weeks later and still no birth certificate. This "business" is a scam that preys on the parents of newborns who already have enough on their plate without dealing with a dishonest company that refuses to give people what they pay forInitial Complaint

I placed an order with VitalChek.com for birth certificate online from *********, ** on 9/13/22 order #****** pin #****** for $40.25. I submitted all documentation requested, and additional documentation requested. I have email verification where they received documentation. They closed out my order because they said I didn't respond, this unprofessional business did not give me a time frame in which to respond and no warning that my order would be cancelled, just a notification that it had been cancelled. When I try to contact the number they listed for me to contact, there's never an answer. They needed address verification because address listed on my license and address on debit card didn't match which was because I used my daughter's debit card, I don't have one, and I did submit address verification in form of clear, legible uploaded image of utility bill and car registration. I received email that my docs had been received. The last email I received was a duplicate email of the first email requesting additional info in the form of address verification however, like I stated before I have the verification email where they received the requested documentation. So my complaint is I'm frustrated because this is an online business that is used by ******** for purchasing vital records and by it being online who can hold them accountable for their dishonest and unfair business transactions. They had no problems whatsoever deducting the funds from my debit card for the order but gave me the complete run around for the product. I also submitted an additional photo upload of my license which was undeniably legible and completely clear taken with an IPhone camera and they still would not accept it although that is the manner in which their application process receives documentation.??? It's unfair because I was left completely dependent on this online company to deliver the service/product I paid for and they took the liberty of choosing not to do so. So what can I do?Initial Complaint

I was charged $47.50 for a certified copy sent *** by vitalchek. They sent me a letter saying I had to reach out to the county my parents were married in not the copy of the record. They had been emailing me and even emailed me to say the record was on the way but I didn't get the record. I got a letter saying they didn't find it and to reach out to the county. The site says that only the fee from their search is non refundable not the entire amount. I want the *** fee and the certified copy fee back since when common sense says they should have just emailed me saying it wasn't found not send it next day air and the fee for the certified copy should not be kept either. Since I didn't get a certified copy. I want the $37.50 back they owe me. I tried to reach out to them and they said they are keeping all the fees. That is unfair practice and a scam. They already kept $10 for my first order I canceled in like 2 minutes because of an error. So far they have scammed me out of ***** and I want the $ back for what I didn't get.Initial Complaint

I am seeking your assistance with obtaining 2 official copies of my father's death certificate without paying an additional cost. I ordered 2 copies of my father's death certificate online to use for an application for dual citizenship. I paid a total of $75.50 for 2 official copies, processing fee, and shipping. The certificates I received has redactions and is stamped as unofficial. The only customer service phone number known is an automated recording that states no one is available to take calls. I used the chat session to try to get a resolution and was told that I ordered informational unofficial copies. I then asked the chat bot for a copy of my application so that I may review it and confirm the error is mine. I was told they could not provide me with proof that I ordered the incorrect version.Initial Complaint

I was approaching 70 years of age and I was dealing with the social security administration of *****************. In my dealings with them, they mentioned that I am entitled to a portion of my former wife's earnings. I was divorced in ****. They told me that in order to receive this benefit, I would need to prove the date of my marriage and the date of my divorce. I was able to prove the date of my divorce, but I needed a copy of my marriage certificate, which I did not have. I was married in ********* ********, in ****. I am currently living in *******, ********. I called the ***************** records and they could not find my marriage certificate. I contacted ****** ******** by email and my only option to get my marriage certificate was to resort to using this company called VitalChek to locate my marriage certificate in **************. I submitted my request to them on 6/17/22 and paid a fee of $68.50. They told me it would take about 3 months before I would receive my certificate by ***** or **** We are well beyond 90 days at this point, and I have still yet to receive my marriage certificate which I paid for. My last email to them several days ago stated that I am no longer on file and I need to resubmit my information. I was livid at this point. I submitted my information again. They did not request any additional fee payment. Social security keeps hounding me for this information in order to process my payment. I am extremely frustrated. My order number was ********* and my PIN number is ******. The call number that they provide which is **************, is never answered by anyone. You cannot leave a message. Their email response is very slow. I am beginning to wonder whether this is a legitimate company. I just want to have my marriage certificate found and issued to me and if they cannot do that, I expect to have a refund of $68.50. Thank you for your attention to this matter. *************************** MDBusiness Response
