In purchasing a redline 360c radar detector I contacted the company Cedar Electronics who also does business as ****** *****. I had already owned a detector from this same company for many years and chose them again after needing a new detector. I had spoken extensively to their phone representatives, one of which was an incredibly knowledgeable woman who had been with ****** ***** for decades. We had discussed a very unfavorable review on the internet from ****** ***** that had pulled its recommendation for the redline 360c. She had assured me, as did their tech support at a later date when I actually had received the detector, that updates were needed and the detector, the priciest ($799) in their lineup was working properly. That was not accurate information as the detector failed to alert. I was further able to validate this by using a second, older detector that was from ****** that was still operating properly. The older detector accurately detected the presence of K as well as Ka bands. The new redline 360c was silent. I was prepared to reaching out again to ****** to see if the issue could be corrected with updates. That was when I received conflicting information that my $80 trade in was only being valued at $40 because ****** was reducing it by $40 for the cost of their free shipping. In contacting ****** to dispute the lower trade in value I was spoken to by an individual, ***** ******, who seemed like he couldn't care less about the situation. In his matter of fact responses it didn't matter to him that his company representatives had assured me of the trade in value and that free shipping was not in fact, free, regardless of what their website says. When that conversation proved futile, and based on the prior concerns about the reliability, and lack of accurate radar detection of the new redline 360c, I explained that I wanted to return the detector and no longer do business with them. They are not providing prepaid shipping for their defective unit
