I am writing in hopes of eradicating, or at least helping to eradicate, the victimization of anyone who unfortunately chooses Fox Moving and Storage of Greater Chattanooga, LLC as their moving company. Fox moved me from an apartment home in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, to an apartment home in Rossville, Georgia, Wednesday, March 1, 2023. They were available and moved me with what I then observed were no problems, so that when ***** *******, their lead man, said the the bill was $708.19, I didn't hesitate to pay it. Then Mr. ******* requested I tip each man. I tipped each of the 3 man crew $20.00, so the total move cost $768.19, for 4 hours work. Thursday, March 8, 2023, I checked a drawer in my bedroom for quarters I'd just bought on Wednesday morning - before the move - for laundry purposes. I'd bought ten dollars worth and had then placed them in that particular bottom drawer. The purse and the quarters were gone! Only four quarters were left, strewn on the bottom of the drawer. Also, look at a crystal container that had been filled with old silver dollars and other old coins, the lid was off and the coins were gone. Three to four coins were also scattered, indicating these items had been taken hurriedly. Instinct them told me to look in the top drawer of this chest-of-drawers at a jewelry box, Yes, again missing items! One jewelry set - a purple bracelet remained and one earring - again suggesting hurry on the part of the thief. I checked another jewelry box. About ten rings had been stolen. One of the residents in my new apartment complex then told me: "Fox is known for thievery; Two Guys breaks things." Judging from the verbal reaction of Ms. **** ****, a representative from Fox Moving and Storage, she expressed neither surprise nor remorse as I told her about the stolen items. She advised me to file a police report. She said file the report with Fort Oglethorpe, where you moved from. I have done so. the case number is **********. In filing a police report and in writing this letter to you, I am hoping to prevent crime.

Have you head from the company? No

Are you satisfied with the company's efforts to resolve this matter? No

The company representative **** **** told me I would be _________ for my stolen goods only if there was a conviction. Officer who this case is assigned to said it is almost impossible to get a conviction. He said this is true ever if a crime scene is videotaped. After the move was completed, Officer did tell me 2 of the 3 men who moved me were help in police custody. Officer said the two men could or could not still be in jail. He doesn't know if they are or not. He also said he doesn't know why they were in custody. What this offense against society was. And he did not say he was going to follow up. I think officer isn't so invested in this case, in my opinion.

When your person contacted Fox Moving and Storage, they were told by someone at Fox that this was one of their best crews. If this 3 man crew was one of their best, I'd hate to see their worst, wouldn't you?

No, I'm frustrated! I feel Fox probably condones this behavior and I don't have a leg to stand on and there is no one in the police department who really cares.

      Business Response

We are very sorry about the troubles from Ms. ******'s move. Theft is not something that is tolerated here at Fox Moving and Storage so any time a customer says that any items are missing we do require a police report to be filed. Both Fox Moving and the Detective assigned to the case has advised Ms. ****** to please check inside the dresser, behind and under the drawers to check for the missing items. Items like this should not be left inside furniture while moving due to furniture being turned and adjusted while moving which can cause loose items such as these to be shuffled around the drawers and sometimes fall behind drawers or out of the furniture itself. Ms. ****** has refused to do so and the last I had spoken to the officer he was not pursing anything further. Please let me know if you need any further information from us. Thank you.

Enclosed please find documentation regarding property damage. Give Fox Moving and Storage credit- where credit is due. They are capable of handling this end of their business above board ad efficiently. Though the $84 would probably pay for the trip a furniture refinisher would charge for coming to your home only. The repair charge would exceed this. I'm guessing this as I've called the one listing for "Furniture repairing, refinishing, stripping" in the old Chattanooga phone directory and they always give me "the mailbox is full" message so I have no actual facts to support what I previously stated.
