I relocated to Clarksville, TN to be close to my daughter because I have multiple service-connected medical issues. Prior to moving to Belle Forest, I had surgery
on my rotator cuff. It took me a few months to unpack. My kitchen sink was backing into the dishwasher, and the humidity was 60 and above, I had to use a dehumidifier and containers to help draw the moisture out of the air, mold got on my purses, shoes, jackets, and mold grew on my furniture. I have pictures of when the maintenance men came to my apt to fix plumbing issues. The maintenance man cut a hole big enough for me to crawl through and put a device in to dry the inside of the wall. My Allergist wrote a letter to the Apartment manager stating that I was allergic to mold. I was constantly struggling with respiratory issues. My oldest son's wife passed away, and his dad and I took him to family court 4 times in Ashville, NC. During one of the trips the transmission pump. My lease was up and I was locked out of the cafe that allowed me to pay my rent online. I borrowed money from AER and from a friend and a cash advance loan. The Marine Corps Emergency Relief gave me a grant. I called and asked if I could pay the back rent, late fees, and the current mo rent and was told that I had to have a cashier's check which I couldn't get because my banks are out of state. When I told the apartment manager I couldn't get a cashier's check, she replied that I no longer had the option of paying the rent. When I looked at the cafe site to renew my lease the rent had increased from approximately $950 to about &1175. I told her that was for new incoming tenants. I was 16 days late on my rent and it was sent to collections. My eviction led to a snowball effect of hardships. I now have a complete tear and is in need of another surgery. I was legally evicted and had a $5,000 judgment. I was treated unfairly.

    Dear *** ******

I would like to say that our current office team is not the team that was in the office at the time of your residency and unfortunately, we do not have full details of your individual circumstance. However, we have reviewed your resident information on file, and have found that the manager at the time followed all residential rental collection procedures as described in your rental lease at the time.

Although management does understand that people can fall on hard times, as a rule of Fair Housing we must follow the same procedures for all residents. We regret that these procedures caused you to feel as if you were being treated unfairly.

Furthermore, once a judgement is entered for non-payment, all accounts are forwarded for collections by our legal team. Again, this is standard procedure, nothing against you personally.

We wish you only the best in all future endeavors.

    Sincerely,

Management of Belle Forest at Memorial Apartments
