She agreed to design and decorate all rooms of my home to be complete by Spring. I paid 70% of the design fee -- $8,680. She said that the average time to complete would be ***** weeks if I made decisions timely. We scheduled a meeting for measurements and she cancelled 4 times before taking them on 11/17. On 12/5 she emailed that she was sending over some ideas. By 12/27 I told her I wanted to cancel because I still had not received anything at all. She assured me that she could still complete my job by Spring and that she would communicate with me better. I received the first email with concepts on 1/24. On 2/20 she sent me a link to a website that lists the items selected for 3 rooms. I reviewed the items and noticed that the pricing was marked up from the actual cost to purchase, some 100%. The bedroom items chosen would have been $4,936 but she was charging $9,117, a $4,181 increase for just one room. I texted on 2/21 to ask about this and she responded on 2/28 that the price includes shipping. Many of the sites offered free or flat rate shipping of around $250. She said she would update the site and list the shipping and receiving separately. By 3/3 I still had not heard from her and the items on the website were completely removed. I texted her to cancel. I had waited 4 months to have concepts for a portion of the rooms and was not informed, verbally or through the contract, that shipping and receiving would be almost double the cost of the items chosen. On March 5, I asked her to send the info for the items and she never responded and never added them back to the website. I have wasted 4 months and did not even get a good start on my project by Spring as promised. I do not believe that the work performed warrants a fee of $8,680.00 and I do not even have access to the information for the items she did select. I would like to see a detailed statement of the time spent working on the project and a refund of any portion of the deposit that was unearned.
