Kinney Pools did an in ground pool for us in Summer of 2021. He wrote up a contract and we signed it. Summer of 2023 the pool began shocking us. When the electric company came to our house to check things out they informed us our electricity to the pool had been hooked up improperly and then come to find out Kinney who owns the pool company didn't have the pool inspected before getting the concrete poured. We also had to hire an electrician to figure out why the pool was shocking us and come to find out Kinney placed "self tapping screws" in the bonding. These self tapping screws disintegrate over time. Therefore the concrete around our in ground pool had to be pulled up and the bonding had to be redone because Kinney placed bad bonding. Kinney then admitted to my husband that the electrician he sent to do our pool was on drugs after we told him our pool bonding was bad and the electricity was done incorrectly. Kinney began fixing the problem by helping pull the concrete up but then stopped fixing the job, and refused to pay the electrician who fixed his problem. Kinney will now not respond to our calls. We now have a lawyer that will be sending him a letter soon.

      Business Response

      Date: 12/18/2023

This is in response to ID **************

Kinney Pools did indeed install this pool. We have been installing pools for over 20 years and take great pride in our work.

Kinney Pools was notified of this problem and we suggested a few things for Mr. ******* to do, however nothing seemed to fix the problem. The electrician we used at the time of pool installation was a certified electrician. However, when Wfl tried to contact him in regard to this problem we learned that he is a very sick man and could not help. Mr. ******* then found a company that were "experts with pool electricity" and hired them to fix the issues. Mr. Kinney and his crew broke up the concrete around the pool and did find one of the self tapping screws had come apart. Once the job was finished Mr. ******** inf armed us of the cost for this repair and it was exorbitant. We are certainly aware that this is our responsibility to pay for the electrical work and to replace the concrete around the pool but we were not prepared for that amount of money. At this time, however, we have contacted Mr. ******* and have paid him for the electrical work and we are in contact with our concrete contractor to give us a bid on replacing the concrete around the ******* pool. We have discussed this fully with Mr. *******.

Once again, Kinney Pools fully intend on finishing this job for the *******s. Respectfully submitted

I am writing this email to inform you that we were satisfied with Kinney
Pools resolution to our problems. Once Kinney received the BBB letter he
brought us money for the electricity issues we had to pay for. This past
week he brought us money for the concrete we are going to have to repave. I
hate it had to come to getting a lawyer and contacting BBB for our issues
to resolve, but thank you for helping my husband and I fix our problems
with the company and our pool issues. The lawyer has now been dropped and
we want to make sure our complaint number ******** is closed in good terms
with the company. I am sorry it took longer than 10 days to reply back due
to my time being consumed with the holidays. If there is anything else I
need to do please let me know.

      Thank you,
      *** *** ******* *******
