    We rented a cabin from Heartland Cabin Rentals so we could take our grandkids on a short vacation. We made the reservation well in advance (8 months) and got the confirmation for our dates. Five months later we received a phone call from Heartland advising us that the property had been sold and was no longer available. Heartland then offered us another property that did not contain the same number of beds/bedrooms as the property we originally reserved, and it would not work for our family so we declined the property as it wasn’t comparable to our original rental. When Heartland credited back our money, there was a $253.01 discrepancy in what we paid them and what was returned to our account. We immediately contacted Heartland and their response was that since we did not accept the second rental property it was considered a “cancellation” on our part. Had the second property been exactly the same as what we originally rented we would have accepted it - but it WAS NOT. This was in no way a cancellation on our part! We have had trouble renting another cabin in the area to accommodate us due to the short notice. Heartland should give us our entire rental amount back. This is just bad business. We asked that the manager contact us to discuss it, but of course that never happened. I cannot, and will not, ever recommend renting from this company. The partial refund was never mentioned when they were cancelling our rental. I hope this review helps others before being ripped off as we were.

    All phone calls are recorded for training purpose and for issues like this. I went back and listen to the phone calls made on Jan 11, 2023 where you booked the cabin and on April 27th, 2023 when you were called about the cabin not being available for your stay any longer and given several cabins to pick from. Per our contract you signed and agreed to states that we have the right to move you to another accommodations if your cabin is no longer going to be available for the time you were coming in which was August. We contacted you instead of just moving you so you could chose another cabin or cancel. You were offered different cabins and you chose to cancel. Per our contract that you signed and agreed to states that Reservation Guarantee and Administration fees are not refundable. You chose to cancel so everything was refunded back except those two fees. April to August is 4 months difference which gave you plenty of time to find other accommodations since you chose to cancel your reservation with us so saying you had trouble finding another cabin does not seem right because there are thousands and thousands of cabin in this area. We have no control over cabin owners selling their cabins or removing them from the program and we do the best we can to accommodate the guest that need to be moved or chose to cancel. Again you were not ripped off and we would never do that to anyone and never have in 30 years of this business. You simply were charged for what you agreed to when you booked the cabin and signed the contract with us.

    Happily Ever After Cabin.
    In all honesty, there was nothing majorly wrong with this property. It was all minor things, and things that happen over the years. The Jacuzzi had some wear on it and the water ran extremely slow. So, by the time it was full. (Has to be above the jets to run them) the hot water was running cold. The water is also well water so it has a smell to it and it smells like rotten eggs- which was off putting with this being a honeymoon cabin, which applied to the shower, the jacuzzi, the hot tub and when washing dishes. Again, I know this is something that is typical with well water, but it was just a little off putting with us, not knowing that walking in. Some small things needed fixed like the handles on the Jacuzzi kept turning. They didn’t stop when they were supposed to. They just kept turning forever so it was hard to figure out where water was running full speed and where it wasn’t - it was really weird, the cable offering was very minimal. Many of the channels that you would see wouldn’t be offered so you click on it and you wouldn’t be allowed to watch it. (there was a DVD and I believe a VHS player provided but we drove 11 hours and didn’t bring any of that stuff with us so we didn’t utilize that.) So, again, nothing majorly wrong with the cabin just small things that were a little of annoyance if you spend a lot of time there. I still highly recommend it! They provide an Alexa that was set up to tell you about the areas around you and give you information for food attractions and entertainment plus all the other typical features of an Alexa. And the driveway was really well laid out. They did tell us in the email instructions not to use GPS but I did find that Google maps did work to get to this location. It gave great details and great turn by turn information to get to this address. The directions that they provided were a little unclear because the street names don’t match up depending what direction you’re coming from.

    Thank you for your review on Happily Ever After Cabin. We are not aware of any issues you had with anything because you never reported anything to us during your stay. All emails, text and phone calls are recorded and all we have is on June 5th, 2023 at 6 PM you text you made it to the cabin and all is good. Then l18 minutes later we got another text from you asking what you can put the AC on and then no other communication with you until the day you checked out and you called the office on a recorded line to let us know you were checking out and did not mention anything and you were ask how your stay was and you replied we had a great stay!


    Our directions are turn by turn and straight to the milage to find the cabin so I do not know why you say they are unclear. There is a lot of TV channels and we would have been more then happy to helped you with that if we had known you were having issues but we did not because you did not let us know. Yes, the cabin has well water and the quality can change at anytime and thank you for understanding that.
