I made a reservation in December 2024 for a cabin for my daughter and her boyfriend for a honeymoon. The name of the business is Brentley's Honeymoon Cabins on the same address and phone number as this business. The email came from ****************** They have decided not to marry and I have been attempting to cancel the reservation. My first contact was 4/16/25. I have emailed and called several times since then and have received not resolve. I did receive a voice mail on 4/23/25 advising that I needed to cancel through VRBO. I did not make the reservation through VRBO but I contacted them anyway. I was advised there was no reservations for me. I again contacted the business and have not received a call back. I attempted to stop payment on my credit card but the transaction is too old and can't stop it now. The refund policy for this business if it is cancelled prior to 30 days before the reservation all is required is 10% of the total price involved ($56.49). After 30 days you forfeit the entire deposit and in this case it is $368.25. Today, 4/26/25 is the 30 day mark.

I was finally able to reach an actual person and they have refunded my deposit.  Apparently the owner passed away and his son was taking care of his finances.  How do I go about closing this claim?

My mother and her friend rented a cabin from Alan's Mountain Cabins in Gatlinburg, TN, located at 2406 East Parkway. Based on the ad, the cabin was very nice, comfortable, and clean. This was supposed to be a relaxing get-away for two 73-year old friends, one whom has cancer. This trip was planned after many treatments of radiation as a much-needed break from the doctor's appts and treatments. Upon arrival, they found the cabin to be nothing like the advertisement. It was very dirty, smelled of mildew, and the heat did not work. Due to the health conditions of the person with cancer, there was no way they could stay in the cabin under these circumstances. It was hard to even breathe due to the mildew smell.
They called the owner, ***** ****** only to have him hang up on them. He refused to give them any money back after they had paid $700.00 for three nights. They told him they would have to leave and find a hotel room because it was too compromising for them to stay there due to the health concerns of the person with cancer...and for anyone for that matter.
Mr. Husky didn't offer any refund nor empathy, and actually turned the other cheek to this dire situation. He shouldn't be allowed to falsely advertise his cabins and take full advantage of others whether they have health conditions or not, but especially if they do. These two elderly citizens deserve their hard-earned money back. They're going through enough as it is.

      Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/11/09) */
upon checking in these folks contacted me and said the heat didn't work and there was a strong order of some sort of cleaner. This was the only two items mentioned to me. The heat was turned off at the thermostat and the house was just cleaned. I turned the heat on and left a message on their phone that the cabin would be warm in a matter of minutes. As for the other problems mentioned I never heard of them. I absolutely did not hang up on anyone. The two minor problems were solved and I do not feel a refund is in order. There was nothing that was not working in the house. The heat was turned down and our cleaners do use disinfectant. ***** ****** -Owner

      Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/11/10) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Mr. Husky is not being honest nor truthful. He knows they complained about various issues with the cabin and they requested refund. He responded by saying he didn't have enough time to rent it out to someone else, therefore, he would not refund their money. He knows what the truth is, and he's not telling it. The house was not clean and was not in good renting condition. He absolutely did hang up on them. If he reads his cabin reviews, he'll find out there are MANY people who have complained about the same issues and these issues have not been resolved. He is cheating his trusting customers to make a dollar, and it is shameful. Mr. Husky, you know the truth, and you are a scammer. Not only did this couple have to pay you $700.00, they had to turn around and pay just as must money for a clean hotel to stay in. You should be ashamed of yourself treating anyone this way, especially the elders and one with cancer.
