      My neighbor and I contracted to do a repair on our front decks, specifically the front fascia boards needed replacement and spindles were too far apart and not to code. In addition, replacing the top railing was part of the work on mine, for an additional payment. Paid $3,245 for mine, my neighbor less. The work was done in June. It is severely deficient, and not acceptable. An employee/supervisor came to view the work after an initial complaint and apologized for the poor workmanship, and was to return the next day to start to re-do it, but it rained. Thereafter, the owner, Mike Shelton, got involved, stating he would come to see the deck, but "forgot" or didn't show without calling. After 4 failed attempts at meeting with him, I suggested a complaint to the BBB and he said he wanted to discuss it before I went to the BBB, but again, a no show. Problems: The replaced deck railing is not level, noticeably higher at one end than the other, by almost 2". Many spindles are not spaced correctly or uniformly, most at 4" on center, some at 5", some at 4.5", some at 3.5". Some at one spacing at the top and different at the bottom, so not even perpendicular, followed by a half dozen similarly not perpendicular, until the spacing problem was recognized and a spindle with reversed bad spacing installed to return to perpendicular, but not for long. It appears spacing was done by eyeball, not by measurement. Some spindles are split by use of too large a nail, others cracked, curved, or have large knots, materials that should have been rejected and not used/mounted in the first place. Some spindles have one nail, some two, with no attempt at uniformity of attachment. The top railing is flat and several sections of 2X12 (?) were cut to match the curve of the front section of deck, however, the new "curved" sections weren't cut correctly and don't match up to each other, not even close, off by inches. I am including pictures.
