My husband and I contacted Showcase Tile and Marble at the end of July 2023 to give us an estimate on a bathroom renovation. He gave us an estimate, we accepted, paid a deposit of $3,640 and the owner told us he was finishing a job and would start on ours in approximately 3 weeks. Toward end of August we contacted him and he said he would go to dump to empty his demo truck and then start. The day he was supposed to do that he didnt call and didnt show it took us a while to get him to respond and he said his transmission had gone out on his work truck but he would start the next week on Monday. I reminded him that was Labor Day and he said Thats just another day- Ill be there he did not show up and again we had trouble reaching him. Finally he contacted us and said he had a wreck the day he was coming to our job and had broken his arm and damaged some ribs. He showed up two weeks later and did start demo ( saw no evidence of injuries). Then he said that he was going to need a 30% installment payment to continue as he had not been able to work due to wreck and could not buy materials he needed for us. Another $3640 payment was paid. Then no show no call no response to texts or calls from us. Finally showed after I said I was contacting our attorney. I asked him to sign an agreement that stated completion date ( determined by him). He finished the demo and assembled 2 small vanities and a linen cabinet. He completed some backer board installation. Then he stopped showing up again. More calls from us resulted in one more visit- not sure if he actually did any actual work. He asked my husband if we could call him that night and we did. He apologized for his unprofessionalism and said he wanted to finish our job without any more money being paid by us. We said we were not asking for that but he insisted so we agreed. That was Nov 3. NO SHOW. He had said our job would be completed by Nov 10. Now we have unusable bathroom.
