Attention Pool Owners: Beware of open-ended contracts that are not specific in giving "ballpark" times for completing jobs with any pool company. We opened the pool during the second week of May 2023, only to find that half of the water had seeped out over the winter. We contacted Isaac's Pools in Johnson City, TN and they sent out a man to discuss various solutions to our problem. We agreed that getting a liner would be a good fix, and a contract was signed on May 24 with 10K paid up front. On the day of the contract, the company said men would be out to work at the house either the second or third week in June. We had assumed that this "work" was when the surface prepping would begin for our Gunite pool. I was informed in late July when I started to question the delays that I was mistaken and that this June visit was only to take measurements. The first liner company (Tara) bailed out on June 16, but Isaacs got a second liner company (GLI) lined up to produce one on June 20. Final measurements were taken for the second company on June 21. On July 14, Isaacs assured me that the liner would be available "any day." The liner did not ship from GLI until Aug 21, and the crew arrived to install it on Sep 7. However, the manufacturer made it four inches too long and another one had to be rush ordered that day. The second liner arrived on Nov 3 and the crew returned to install it Nov 6-8. They did a good job putting it in and were very professional in their dealings with us. However, the pool season for 2023 was totally shot and my son and I had to keep draining and cleaning out the bottom of the pool over five months while awaiting the final liner. To be fair, Isaacs did not have control over the third party liner company (GLI), but we thought it reasonable in May to expect some use of our pool last summer. Seniors and vets, if you want a timely turn around for your pool repairs, avoid open-ended contracts with any pool company so your 2024 pool season does not get sunk.
