1 starI had a check that didn’t get taken out until 9am I was 3 dollars short and put a 20 in the atm at 7:55 am they charged an overdraft fee of 30 dollars account was negative 27 not 30 because there was 3 dollars more than the amount of the check and they refused to waive the fee I have atm receipt with the total amount and time before check came out and they said no even after that. They said the whole amount has to be inside before the check is written not before it come outs because the system auto assesses fees without any human oversight. And then proceeded to tell me how to budget even though the account had more than what the check was for. I closed the account and will let the balance go to collections for 7 years. I get paid under the table goodluck getting the 30 bucks. This is predatory. Can’t wait for that new law against overdraft fees.Review fromMichael O

1 starWas 1 car payment behind and was getting ready to take care of that.... They repossessed it and I tried to pay every single dime they was going to charge me including repo fees....They would not let me and told me I had to refinance the loan.....I tried with 2 different cosigners and they turned me down....I told them about my hardships over the last couple of months....My daughter lost her home and everything but the clothes on her back in a fire and they could care less....I tried everything to make it right with that loan....I'm very disappointed in the lack of remorse of these people.....Stay away from Eastman Credit Union please.....Eastman Credit Union

Own a million dollars of property free and clear. Have 1.2 million in savings. Been members at ECU for 20 plus years. Loan was denied. WTF? ECU BESIDE YOU? I don't think so. If we can't get a loan, WHO CAN? ECU is not beside you. They should be sued for false advertisement. ECU you can KMA!!!Eastman Credit Union

1 starI have had a checking/savings account with ECU for over 15 years. When my daughter turned 18 I took her to ECU to open an account. The account was suppose to be solely hers but years later find out it's not. Last week I went into a local branch in Johnson City TN on Sunset Drive and spoke with Hunter L. I told him that I was needing to open a new account because I was getting a divorce and needed my own account. No problem Hunter set the new
account up, canceled my debit card to my old account and created a new card tied to the new account. Well today a week later I get a call from Hunter. When I finally was able to get a hold of him he started off with I have had a bad day and a gentleman just sit in his office and cursed him out. He then proceeded to say you are probably going to be the same way. He said they are going to have to close my new account because of my daughter's old banking account that charged off. Apparently I was setup as a co owner, per Hunter and when you are given permission to use someone else banking account you are just as responsible. I told Hunter I was never aware and was never notified of a charge off account and that a member should not be punished for an ECU error. He stated the only error ECU made was opening me a new account. Hunter then moved my available balance back to my old account, closed out my new account, and canceled the only debit card that would access my banking funds. Now I have to go back, try to get a new debit card for my old account and hope nothing is taken before I can move banks. A banking facility should not close all access you have to your money. ECU should of owned up to their mistake and not make members pay. This is not a member owned company. NO ACCESS TO YOUR OWN MONEY SHOULD BE AGAINST LAW!Eastman Credit Union

1 starWe got a car loan through Eastman almost 5 years ago. Last year we fell behind on payments due to Covid. ECU was extremely passive aggressive about it and completely unprofessional. We came up with the large sum of money they wanted to keep our car.
Fast forward to today, they have repossessed our car. However, the lady in charge of the repossession keeps changing her story and is so rude she really just needs a slap in the face. She refuses to answer any questions at all.
Here are the questions we have which she refuses to answer.
Last week we got a notice that said the car was $270 behind, yet they repossess the car and this “Sandra” woman claims the car is 2 months behind. $270 isn’t even a full car payment. Then yesterday we get a letter saying it’s now 2 payments behind. We call her again and now she claims it’s 3 payments behind. The payment isn’t due until the 28th of the month, how is it now magically 3 payments behind?
A couple months ago ECU contacted us and threatened a repossession for non payment. We made the payment but either an employee stole it or they were trying to hide it. After raising hell they mysteriously “found” the payment in question.
The letter we received yesterday had not been postmarked at all. It was like someone drove by and stuck it in our mailbox. It also didn’t show up with our regular mail. Why?
After going through every car payment we made, we have also found where ECU applied our car payment TO SOMEONE ELSE’S ACCOUNT.
ECU can’t even handle a single car payment, what makes anyone think they can handle the millions of dollars they manage? This has been a complete nightmare and error after error on their part.
Now they have stolen our vehicle because their employees are completely incompetent. We are taking this to court. “Lost” payments, payments applied to the wrong account, lying employees, letters magically showing up in our mailbox and random made up due dates and missed payments? Someone is up to no good.Eastman Credit Union

1 starWhen I first started with Eastman they would do all they could to help but after a while my husband and I noticed over drafts now we had both savings and checking and I was told the money should have been pulled from savings if it was there then I was told it was automatic they had no control on it so if you’re checking your account daily please do so also our money went into the bank every other Wednesday and it seemed as though we were hit with all those overdrafts before payday so they could get that 30.00 overdraft fee whatever they can do and get away with they will do so they can get that fee and when we stopped putting money into our accounts they begin doing the same thing to my son’s accountEastman Credit Union

Thank you for your recent feedback! When the available balance of funds in your account is not sufficient to pay a check or other item, your account may be charged an insufficient funds fee. ECU offers multiple channels to help you keep track of account balances, such as mobile text notifications to alert you when the balance in your account drops below a certain threshold. We have also partnered with a company called GreenPath to offer assistance and informational tools that may be helpful in managing and balancing a checking account. If you would like more information about this service, please contact us at your convenience.Review fromDavid O

1 starLet me first start with Eastman was a great credit union until I started falling behind on my car payment. at which point they stop helping and just wanted to repossess the Vehicle. I was only 32 days past due and had a payment ready, but that day they had already called a repossession service to come get the car. Now it's nearly impossible to get the car back with the $800.00 repo fee, and they also want me to refinance the Vehicle on top of that. I've called multiple times to see what options I had at the time, but none were given to me even after being with Eastman for 10+ years. and no call was made to me before the car was repossessed. I will never do business with this credit union ever again, and I warn anyone else against doing the same. People get behind sometimes, and sometimes we need our bank or credit union to help. But it seems Eastman is not in the business of customer service.Eastman Credit Union
