This company has been caring for my father for just under a year and has consistently shown an inability to communicate. My father lives in my home and suffers from BvFTD. My husband works swing shift, meaning many days he is asleep until 2pm, and I have two dogs over 100lbs. each. Home Instead is constantly sending someone new to my home without communicating this with me disabling me from ensuring measures are met to fit everyone’s needs, mainly my fathers. My father does not like having strangers show up and requires consistency. Of course I understand staffing shortages have no doubt affected this company, but that does not change the expectation of communication. When I called the general manager, Michelle, asking for some clarification as to why strangers were being sent to my home repeatedly, she would not let me finish sentences and was ultimately rude and unprofessional. She stated “I suggest you lose your attitude if you want any help from me” and when I asked to speak with the owner she would not allow it nor would she honor my request to have the owner contact me. She said the owner would tell me the same thing. She then threatened to drop my father as a client solely based on our horrible conversation which tells me my fathers care is NOT at the forefront of this woman’s focus, but rather her personal opinion. This argumentative demeanor lasted for the duration of the call (5 minutes) which I ended abruptly. There is nobody I am able to communicate with within this company to gain any level of understanding let alone respect. I don’t believe that as a homeowner knowing who is showing up to my home and when is too much to ask. Especially from a nation-wide company. I am appalled and disgusted at the “customer service” I received from Michelle and the lack of respect and resolution from our childish and confrontational phone call. Clearly professional expectations must be significantly lowered if anyone wants to work with this company.
