I called Central City Heat & Air/A A Heat & Air (Knoxville, TN) to request service for my heat/air unit because the outside fan would not shut off--even with the indoor thermostat turned off. On Feb. 6, 2025, Jason and his assistant (whom he was training) arrived at my house. I opened the garage door and showed them the unit. I explained to them that everything was working well except the fan would not' shut off. They said a "contactor" in the fan was bad, and they could replace it with a new one that was in their truck.
Later, Jason's assistant came inside and told me they had fixed the fan (in the unit outside). She (assistant) said the total bill was $348.46. I wrote them a check and they left.
A few minutes later, I checked the fan (on outside unit) and it was, still, running--with the wall thermostat still in the "system off" mode. I phoned their office and told them I had, just, given them a check for $348.46 and the fan was, still, not shutting off.
The same two reps returned, and the assistant went to the thermostat and started adjusting it. I told her that my thermostat appears to be working normally and not to mess with it. She said "I'm not" and started dismantling it. She took some parts of it outside and, then, came back in. I could hear Jason telling her how to reassemble it on her phone. I was unaware that he was in my garage at the time, at the unit, while she was at the wall thermostat. She told me the fan was off and I would need to replace the board in the unit, for another $702 on top of the $348.46 I, already, paid them. I was concerned that neither of them knew what they were doing so I told her to leave.
I called ****** **** & *** on February 7, 2025; and, they sent a fantastic service person (Jeff). Within 20 minutes he had checked out the HVAC unit, thermostat, and fan. He found someone previously had wired the fan incorrectly. He did not see a new "contactor". He charged an $89 service fee. Jason had unplugged the fan
