We only have 3 service records for this vehicle which show oil change intervals at 11,000 and 8,000 miles, well over the factory recommended 3750. 2 of them state that NO OIL ON DIPSTICK before service which is detrimental to the engine. After the last oil change, the customer returned about a week after the service and we added 2 quarts to get it back to full. After being contacted regarding the current issue we obtained pictures from the service center it was at showing oil covering the bottom of the vehicle. We brought the vehicle to a full service location and found a hole in the side of the engine which is where the oil was coming from. The plug was tight, and the filter was also. The filter appeared to be leaking because of the location of the hole in the area above it. Had we left anything loose during the service, there would be oil trails in and out of where the vehicle is parked on a daily basis. Based on the inspection of the grounds around the home, we didn't find any oil spills or trails that occur when plugs or filters are leaking to the extent of losing this amount of oil. Had we not put the oil filter on, it would not have left the store as the oil would have blown out into the lower bay area and noticed immediately. Had it been left loose to the extent of losing that much oil in about a week, oil trails would be present in and out of the normal driving area, especially where it's parked, which none were discovered. We are very sorry the customer has an issue, but we have not found Jiffy Lube to be at fault based on our findings.
