I've spent a large amount of money to finally lose weight and keep it off as promised by this company. The company was Be the New You in Atlanta, GA but based in Knoxville, TN and now calling themselves Be the Younger You - apparently their proprietary blend was changed. It was promised that I'd lose up to 30 pounds in the first month and I'd have coaching until I reached my goal. The coaching is practically non-existent and I've requested meetings with the "doctor" twice only to find out that the one who sold me on the program is no longer there. I've yet to speak with an actual doctor, it's always individuals asking the same basic three questions - I'm not sure they have any medical/nutritional certification and it's definitely not coaching (Coaching is a form of development in which an experienced person supports a learner or client in achieving a specific personal or professional goal by providing training and guidance).
Additionally, there was no mention of logging foods into an app, in fact during the initial consultation I'd expressed my dislike of using apps, I've tried several before and it didn't work for me. It was suggested that I log everything on paper to go over with "My Coach", but as previously stated, they just asked the same three questions and ended the session. I've not been receiving my "coaching sessions" since my last visit in July. I've called and am prompted to leave a message which haven't been returned, so I quick trying. I've only lost 10-15 pounds (it keeps fluctuating between 10-15lbs) and it's been six months. The proprietary blend was delayed for several months, so I didn't even have the product purchased to maintain the program at one point and it was changed without any notification. It was $4,152.00 paid on 12/27/2023 and I feel swindled and want at least half if not all of the money credited back to my Care Credit account.

On July 6, 2023 I met with ** **** *Be the New You in Knoxville. I was told about a new weight loss plan that requires no exercise no pre packaged foods no special foods and that I could loose up to a pound a day with no medication and I would become a healthier person and would be able to stop taking blood pressure and cholesterol medicine. I was also told I would not have to starve myself and that I could still eat out as well as eat my regular diet. I was charged ******* after the payment was paid in full I was sent to another room where I was given 2 bottles of drop that I would be required to take as well as shown a list if foods that I would be required to eat. When I was shown the food list I immediately told *** **** that there were on a couple of things on the list that I could eat. He informed me that if I tried this weight loss program I would have a support group and once a week phone appointments and if it didn't work he would refund my money. I haven't had any support group. They said the app doesn't work with cell phones. I haven't had a phone appointment in 5 weeks. I have called every week for 5 weeks requesting to speak with *** **** as well as requesting a refund. No one will speak to me accept ****** which always tells me *** **** is never in the office and that she has given him my messages and they can't do anything to assist me that he has to be the one to assist me with this issue but he never responds. This plan has not worked for me. My cholesterol went up due to the foods I was required to eat. Some days I was told to only eat apples all day for 3 days just to loose weight which they refer to as a Plato Breaker. Other times it was 4 oz of steak and 4 oz of apple and always weight the meat prior to cooking it which was putting my body in starvation mode. I would call to report how it was effecting me but the Doctor never called me back.

    Business Response

    Date: 10/17/2023

    To Better Business Bureau,
I have received the complaint that has been sent in by one of our patients and I would like to further explain. *** ********* came to our clinic on July 6th 2023, and met with *** ****, who fully explained what the program entailed. We do not tell patients that they will be able to stop taking any medications, we make sure to tell them to work with their primary provider, because what can happen is people’s medications get reduced or they get taken off of them. We do not guarantee that they will stop taking any medications. *** ********* received 9 out of 12  weeks of support and coaching with our team. We gave her recommendations and advice the entire time. On 9/7 (the final “official” meeting with our team), she told us she would like a refund because it was not working for her. We were under the impression that she was finished with the program and no longer wanted the coaching. This was further confirmed when she called us every week, not to talk about her progress, only on when she would be receiving a refund. *** ********* claims she was in starvation mode, however expressed to us multiple times throughout the program that she wasn’t able to eat all of the food that was required. We even increased her food quantity at one point because of her activity level, however she wanted to decrease it again because her progress had slowed. The agreement in the financial policy is that if she did not lose the weight we would provide her with a full refund. *** ********* lost 25% of her goal, but we are still going to fully refund her.
