Fortenberry Mini Storage (Joyce Fortenberry and Regina Underwood) was sold to Southern Homes and Farms/dba Fortenberry Self Storage (Mark Underwood, Caleb Underwood and Elfride Defoe.) in an undisclosed real estate transaction filed in Sevier County on 7/8/22. The sale was leaked mid July and there has been complete confusion and chaos in making payments ever since. July - both parties were giving conflicting information on where/who to pay. Upon receipt of a letter from the new owners, I made my July payment to them. August - I had to wait for a pro-rated amount as instructed by the new owners. An official check was dropped in an unsecured drop box on 8/12/22 but was not collected and posted until 8/15/22. I sent a text noting the drop and my concern over the box not being secure. Prior to receiving my prorated invoice, I received a text that I had been locked out while on my way to the property. I cancelled my help that was supposed to meet me there. Upon my arrival, I found that there were no locks on the units when I arrived. September - I purchased an official check and transferred it to their account. Notified them that my payment had been made and have been getting the run around again. They can see the payment but refuse to post it, and have maintained the locks on my units. I am disabled and am working to sort, clean out, donate and discard property from these units. I have a significant drive in order to get to the location. These people are essentially holding my property hostage in order to inflict financial harm. Mark Underwood is a licensed realtor and has also failed to file for a new 911 address as he should. There have been numerous thefts at the property which they are trying to hide, which I believe is likely for insurance purposes.
