    Business Commitment: Provide a working Pontoon boat for a day on the lake
    Nature of Dispute: Picked up the boat, staff member said the gas gauge doesn’t work-have to physically check gas tank. Drove roughly 40 minutes out (pass Stardust Marina). Once on the water, it was noticed the oil gauge kept lighting up, the slide from the top deck would not connect to the power source and gave an electric shock, so it wasn’t usable. When returning back to the Marina, the boat stopped running even though there was gas in the tank. Called the Marina at about 5:30/6:00pm for assistance and was told they were very busy to figure it out on our own. Called again and was told to call for a tow at our expense. Called family members who were able to reach Indian River Marina who came to tow us in. At 8:32pm Indian River Marina were out searching for us. We were hard to see because there were no working navigational lights on the boat and we were dead in the water in the dark. At 9:09pm Indian River Marina found us and towed us back to Whitman Marina.
    Family members and friends who reside in the area were working desperately to get the boat and us found, as cell phones were dying while being stranded on the boat on the lake.

    A personal captain was hired for the day to drive the boat.*

    Did the business try to resolve the problem- NO! They blamed us for all the problems with the boat. Accused us of traveling farther than we did, getting lake water in the engine and traveling with the slide connected therefore running down the battery. Whitman’s did not try and reach out to us even after the boat was not returned at the assigned time of 7:00pm. Our well-being was not of any importance to them.

    On 6/10/22 our family had dinner at Whitman Hollow Marina. We paid via credit card, total $63.88. Our bank statement showed that we were charged twice on the same day, amounts of $63.88 each time. I contacted Whitman Hollow by phone on 6/22/23 to report, I was told to email the date of transaction, name on credit card and last 4 numbers of card to [email protected]. The email was sent that day. With no response, I called back on 6/26/23. I was again told to email my info and they would credit my account. I did ask to speak to the manager but was told to resend email. On 7/6/23 I again called the Marina, explained the circumstances and was still not allowed to speak with the manager, although she was reportedly there telling me to send an email again. A third email was sent with the requested information and as of 7/9/23 I have not received credit or any communication from the business.
