January 3, 7, 8, 15, 17, and 20, 2025.Paid $1,300 for Catalytic Converter repair.Since the Catalytic Converter was installed my vehicle has not run right, stutters, and now it has transmission issues that have not been fully diagnosed and repaired. When the first converter was ordered for the repair they tried to put it on and it didn't fit. When the second one was put on they told me it might have problems, it may just have to work it self out or it the light comes on bring it back. Upon leaving their business it did not run right. Returned it, they weren't able to figure out the problem told me to bring it back next week for additional diagnosis, so I picked it up cause they were closed for the weekend. Upon picking it up it had a loud blowing or buzzing noise, they had closed for the day, drove it home. The next day I took it out on a drive to see if it was better, it broke down, and I had it towed back to 1st Chance.1st Chance is not accepting any responsibility for my automobile issues, but I believe a transmission related part under the *** was damaged while they were trying to make the catalytic converter fit my *** that has caused a problem with the transmission. Before they started fixing my *** it ran just fine with the engine light on, I decided to have it fixed as a preventative measure, now I'm out of $1,300 and it needs a repair that possibly cost more that the initial repair.I need some help negotiating with 1st Chance to solve this situation, I have no idea what to do, but I feel that as a consumer I am not at fault and their should be some resolve for my ***. At the time of writing this complaint my *** is in the possession of 1st Chance, they initially offered to take it to a transmission shop, but when I checked on it, it was still on their property.Business Response

Good Morning
To begin I want to say we sympathize and understand the confusion on Ms.Terri's part and we have respectfully and graciously tried to explain the situation. We always try to put ourselves in the customers shoes and realize what makes perfect sense to us will not always to someone who does not understand all the complexities of todays vehicles. So we are grateful to get your expertise in this matter
The details of her claim are for the most part correct. ******** did bring her 2018 Chevrolet Suburban in with codes reflecting catalytic converters. She received those codes by ******** who told her catalytic converters were her issue, we are only asked to quote replacing the catalytic converters which we quoted at 1077+tax =******* ( not 1300 ). After the initial visual inspection we did not feel comfortable with the converters we had here and chose to order in the complete system. Ms. ***** understandably did not want to leave the vehicle for the few days so chose to pick up until the parts arrived. After coordinating with Ms. ***** we got the truck back and installed the part and cleared the codes (420 and 430 converter codes ). We completed the work on 1-8-25 and vehicle was picked up. We were not contacted or told of any issues until 1-15-25 where customer stated noises / driving issues etc and we offered to reinspect. The codes we were initially addressing (420 and 430 converter codes) were no longer there and after inspection of the parts and labor we could see no issues or problems with the work that we had performed. The issue now was new transmission codes, ( P0700 and Po796 ) and her complaints were consistent with the symptoms indicated by the new codes. These vehicles are notorious for transmission issues and there are even class action lawsuits against ** for this issue. As we stated in the beginning I do hate that these issues have come back to back for Ms. ***** and do sympathize with her, but the converter being installed in no way affected or harmed the transmission. On a side note we did reach out to consult a local transmission shop to get their opinion and they confirmed they were unrelated.
Thanks for your consideration and help to resolve this matter

As of January 22, 2025, my SUV has been towed home.
1st Chance took it to Transmission Masters, which is about 2 doors down from them. 1st Chance found 2 transmission codes, not really sure what Transmission Masters looked at, but they give me a quote based on the to engine light codes PO700 Transmission Control an dPO 796 Transmission Pressure Control Solenoid. The quote was over $5000, after the cost for repairing the Catalytic Converter issues that was not fully accessed and completed by 1st Chance for the suv to run properly, I decided to tow it home, it still has a lot of problems.
At this point, I don't know what a resolve is for my suv, towing it back to 1st Chance to complete the catalytic converter issues fixed would be costly and overlapping issues would cause confusion.
