My health began to decline and my adult children felt I needed a service dog. After searching I found Retreiving Independance in ********, **. I contacted them and we were able to get things going. We had a few bumps along the way. Finally, I was matched with ***! ** requires you to spend the week in a hotel with your dog for week. From the first night *** pulled me, lunged at small children, and barked at every noise. The Friday before graduation that Sunday we were at Vanderbilt and *** pulled so hard to sniff I tripped over the sidewalk. I told ********** that *** wasnt working for me. Once back at the hotel the staff had a meeting. I was heartbroken. I had to give *** back. Later that week agreed that I would be re-matched. I went to the prison where the dogs are trained. There I met Cupid. ** said bc of the issues someone would bring Cupid once per month. We would do chores around the house. When ***** wanted to stop I was told that ***** was tired. Fast forward I get Cupid home I get Covid. I reached out and asked if she would forget her training I was assured she would not. Fast forward again and we are post Covid and I reach out with some concerns and told what to do and I did. I am traveling back and forth to ******* (I told the ** staff Cupid needs to be able to fly) Every single trip going/returning she pooped in the middle of airport. I reached out and was told get her a thunder vest. Did it didnt work. Then someone else said its not behavioral its neurological take her to the vet. She goes they but her on an anxiety medication. Now we go through the airport and she doesnt p*** but shes so relaxed she cant help me. ** sent the gentleman that trained her in prison to my home to help get Cupid tutored. He and the ** director took Cupid around the airport. ****** said she did great. Of course neither is disabled, in a wheelchair, had luggage. They have offered for me to travel to their 3rd location to have 3rd trainer to work with us. More dets.
