Mr. Collier dropped of his 2004 Nissan Titan for diagnostic review on 8/14/2024. See attached Repair Order 179A-61335. We attempted to contact him on multiple occasions (8/16/2024; 8/20/2024; 8/23/2024; and left a message to the number he provided that storage fees would initiate on 8/26/2024) to discuss the quote to repair his vehicle that needs a rebuilt transmission and were unable to contact him. After sufficient time of non-contact and no attempt by Mr. Collier to even try and contact us to check the status of his vehicle (over 6 weeks), we filed a mechanics lien for services rendered regarding the diagnostic services and the storage of the vehicle that initiated 2 weeks after he dropped off his vehicle with no retuned calls. He only attempted to get in touch with us upon receiving legal notification of action in the mail. We are willing to work with Mr. Collier and have indicated we are willing to resolve this issue along as he pays for services rendered, storage fees accrued (which are still accruing at $30.00 per day), and filing fees. He contacted us on 10/1/2024 and indicated he was on his way to pay for services due but did not show up to do so as such storage fees will continue to accumulate This is a situation where Mr. Collier left his vehicle at our shop for roughly 2 MONTHS, did not contact us in ANY CAPACITY, and expects to simply pay for only the diagnostic fee. This is not acceptable - he is more than welcome to pick up his car after paying the noted fees and the lien on the vehicle will be released.Business Response

Miss Upchurch,
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention on behalf of your son Shane. We are sorry for any inconvenience that he as our customer may have experienced in working with us. We will do everything we can to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Shane brought his vehicle to us on 4/23/24 indicating had had some transmission issues that he wanted us to diagnose and quote out for repair. Once diagnosed and prior to repairs, we let him know that his transmission needed to be rebuilt due to slipping gears and internal pump and valve body degradation. We indicated the repairs would include a new converter, and we would flush, and flow test the cooler and add new fluid to complete all work required. On 2/24/2024, we quoted him a price of $4,385.00 for the repairs that he agreed to via phone call. The approval process for large repairs is standard procedure for us to make sure the customer, in this case your son, approved moving forward with the outlined repairs at the price quoted.
Please note, this price was $408.95 below estimated cost of repair taken from Mitchell ProDemand estimating guide, a very reputable and highly regarded repair estimating application, that is used by tens of thousands of repair facilities across the United States. The price we agreed to is well within reasonable expectations for work performed. I have included a copy for your review. Additionally, we agreed to give him an extra $100 discount for paying with cash upon his request at time of check out which is noted on his final invoice.
Additionally, please note, we did not charge him for any towing services at any time. This would be noted on the final invoice if towing were applied to his bill which I have also attached for your review.
Regarding some of your other concerns noted, the torque converter in question was provided to your son upon his request. He asked if he could take it due to the perceived value and expense he had when he purchased the part originally and it was given to him immediately upon request. Please note that we did take on the core charge for the converter put in his truck with the new transmission due to the used on not being returned to the parts supplier at a cost of roughly $200.00. We NEVER tried to take ownership of this part or resell it in ANY CAPACITY. Shane requested it and it was given to him without any issues. It is now in your son’s possession as he requested.
When the 2006 Chevy Silverado was dropped off it had a slight exhaust leak that Shane noted and confirmed he was aware of. This leak was likely made larger due to having to remove and reinstall the aftermarket exhaust system in place. At first, we tried to repair it and let Shane know about the issue and that if he was not happy, to bring his vehicle back for us if needed, which he did. To correct the situation, we purchased replacement parts for his exhaust system at no expense to him and installed them again at no fee to meet his expectations.
At this point, I’m more than willing to discuss the issues you perceived on your son’s behalf or even better discuss them with him directly as he is our direct customer. That is up to both of you. I do though feel that no refund is merited at this time, especially in the amount your noted of $4250.00 as this is a bit excessive of an amount due to the fact that your son has a rebuilt and functioning transmission in his vehicle as was the expectation of the repairs, it was installed at below market pricing as noted previously, he was given additional discounts upon his request, requested parts from his existing unit were provided to him with no issues upon his request, and any perceived issues with quality were addressed at our expense. All of this and he still has a 12 month/12,000-mile warranty in place that he can utilize, and we will honor if he runs into future issues.
I apologize that we did not meet your standards but will continue to take your concerns and work to improve in the areas where noted. We have been a trusted member of the community for over 50 years and will continue to work to exceed the expectations of our customers and work with them in situations where there may be concerns. Please reach out to us directly if you or your son would like to discuss further – again, happy to do so.
Regards,
Warren Taylor
