  Be aware and perform due diligence when conducting business with this contractor. In March 2023, we contracted with Grindhouse Construction to repair home water damage resulting from burst pipes. After an agreement and an approved statement of work with our insurance company, this company's owner demanded the entire insurance check upfront as a condition of beginning the ************* months later, although a vast portion of the damaged home was completed, we notified the company of our displeasure regarding numerous paid, but incomplete items, including the kitchen. To close out the project, Grindhouse construction forwarded emails to the insurance company falsely claiming "all work is complete." and that he is owed additional funds. This comment triggered an inspection via our mortgage company to prove his statement as false. We invited the company owner to visit our home to view financial spreadsheets and discuss the sources of discontent; he agreed on a date and time, but he sent contractors and his assistant. Nevertheless, we proceeded and addressed why a lock-box was removed, missing appliances, sub-par cabinet installations, financial and other miscellaneous issues. The meeting was videotaped for future reference. Another concern is the company's reluctance to present evidence of permits acquired where required by law. On the advice of second and third opinions, in order to create a functional home void of safety hazards, it was imperative that defective components be replaced. At our expense, we hire another company to correct sub-par work, install missing items, and complete the project. We are researching remedial recourses, including potential legal action. Lessons learned. A Company's professionally produced Internet ads/videos do not confirm or guarantee contractor integrity, the quality of a company's work performance or their willingness to arbitrate or mediate issues. Let the buyer beware.
