      I had an appointment there this morning. I had been going to another of their offices. They take Humana ins. I had my teeth xrayed, not cleaned. They informed me I needed two crowns, two fillings and my gums needed a deep cleaning. This was after she gouged my gums in several places. Then, I would need deep cleanings every three months.I had been to the dentist six months ago. I was told then I needed one crown.This woman took my blood pressure??tried to sell me a cancer screening and a fluoride treatment!! She couldn't clean my teeth, because my gums were too bad. It would be illegal. I'm eighty. I have had good dental care all my life. It was going to be a total of over $5000. THEY ARE MONEY HUNGRY.

      At my appointment, I was told my insurance would cover all but $55 out of my pocket (I had to pay for oral cancer screening and the fluoride treatment), which I was totally fine with because I opted for those two things. Then, a few days after my appointment, I get another email bill for an additional $79 out of nowhere.Keep in mind, my old copay was $10 total for a cleaning and X-rays at my previous dentist. $134 for a cleaning here is absolutely absurd. I have good insurance that we pay a lot of money ****** insurance told me that the type of XRays they use in their office (specific type of frequency) is not covered for most insurances (unless theres an issue with the teeth). I simply asked for a basic cleaning when I scheduled my appointment. The receptionist never said I needed to get my X-rays sent over. I signed all the documents to approve them to get my previous medical records for their use. So I was under the impression from them, they had everything they needed. I have always gotten the basic bite wing X-rays at my previous dentist and those are always 100% covered. I anticipated this dentist office to use basic bite wing X-rays too. I dont work in the dental field so I was unaware that their specific X-rays they bill for here are actually way more expensive than the regular bite wing X-rays most dentist offices use. Its their job to inform patients of this. No, they just sent me another bill, and say oh well, thats on you. When in reality, they should have comped the excessive xray bill they sent, since they told me it was covered when in reality it wasnt only because their X-rays are a higher frequency, which no regular person would know. Thats what they should have done if they want to retain a loyal patient. Now, they have lost a patient that was about to book a bridge on my next appointment.This is a not a trustworthy dentist office. They push a lot of unnecessary things/ bill expensive things to patients, in my opinion. Stay away!!!!!

      Made a dental appointment on 4/5/23 and was already accepted by their staff that my **************** was accepted there , gave them my ID number and group information to verify. After the cleaning and X-rays I was told that I only owed $25 for some type of Fluoride treatment that was extra. I paid in full all that was my part that the insurance didn't approve. In May of 2024 I was sent a bill for $367 for cleaning and X-rays . I informed ********* on 5/17/24 that my insurance was to cover that part. She stated that she would file my insurance again . Talked to her again on 5/24/24 to see if everything was approved. She said that there must have been some mistake that they didn't accept my insurance. I told her that I came by before my appointment and gave them all my insurance information and that everything was pre-approved before my appointment.Got a reply back from American Family Dentistry after giving them a bad review on their website stating they wanted to discuss the details of my review a couple of weeks later. Called them up and they said even though they made the mistake I was still responsible for the bill. How could they check my insurance twice , once before the cleaning and at the time of the procedure to say that all I was responsible since they didn't take my insurance.

      I initially came in for a cap impression and cleaning, got the impression done for the cap waited for weeks and I had to call the office to get an update that the cap was lost in the mail. No one called at all. So I came back to get the impression done again! Guess what I had to call again to see if the second impression came in because again no one followed up or even made an appointment. You would think it would be a priority. Since ************* has retired from this facility, the customer service at this ********************** Facility is very poor! They are very unprofessional, I paid for this cap in full and cannot get a simple call for a cap impression that has taken 2 months. I wouldnt come here again! If you paid me!
