We hired this business to build a deck because we did not see any complaints filed with the BBB, even though this contractor's bid was about 30-40% higher than the others. We felt like if we paid more for the product it would be higher quality and less problems. 1. deck (with **** stairs) 12'x34'2. cut thru a cinderblock wall to provide a walk way with finished edges leading to the deck 3. replacement crawl space cover. The deck build began. We noticed there were minimal post supports/footings around the deck and none underneath. We questioned this and were assured more posts would be added. This did not happen. The bricks were cut and removed. To finish the edges of the bricks, we were told that he would come back when the concrete guys were pouring the concrete and use some left over cement to finish the open brick area. I let him know when the concrete guys were coming and he never showed up. We spent $200.00 more to have someone else finish the opening. The contract said **** steps, the long side of the deck ended up with 5 steps, the last step to the ground was quite high and it felt unsafe when you stepped down onto the ground. We paid $350.00 to another contractor for a double layered brick step to be added at the bottom of the wooden steps. The crawl space cover took quite a while to get finished. The corrugated tin was was mounted in such a way that it was lower on one side than the other and did not cover the top, leaving it open to rain. We had to remove and buy more tin since it was cut too small to cover the top. We did this ourselves and paid another $70.00. Two weeks ago I reported the unstableness of the deck and were told he would be out to fix it the beginning of the next week. (The deck moves even with a small dog walking on it and sags where the grill is located.) No one ever came as promised. We just want the contractor to finish the job correctly so that the deck is safe, to have people on it for a cookout.

    Business Response

    Date: 11/10/2022

Well first let me say I am very sorry this project had a poor turn of events and the crew leader who worked on your project no longer is one of our team members.  Let me also say that I only received notice of this yesterday, 11/09.  The BBB is inaccurate in saying there was a previous message that I received.

Now to the main concern for all of us.  I was under the impression this has been taken care of through communications with the above mentioned crew leader.  Other than the deck appearing to not be stable which is a head scratcher. I was unaware of any other concerns.  That being said you should have already heard from my operations manager, ******************************  We want to come out asap to address your concerns.  And again, I apologize for this.  Had I known this had not been taken care of it would have already been resolved.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.  However- no one from the business has called me or left a message to come out and review the situation yet as of 11/14/22 as the response indicates should have already happened.
