My air conditioner unit at my home was 3.5 tons with a 22 refrigerant. Jackson and Sons replaced my unit with a 5.0ton units with at 14A refrigerant, mine you I still had a 22 refrigerant that was not changed when the 5.0 ton was placed. Because of this according to several other companies the unit would not work. However, the 5.0-ton unit was placed without any additional changes. I purchased a New Unit last year from Jackson and Sons Heating and Air Conditioner, LLC. I purchased the unit for 3400 not including a 250 additional fee for freon and another 50-dollar fee for a fuse. The unit has worked off and on. The new unit was placed on 6/23/23- they came out 5/25/2024 and replaced the new unit with a refurbished unit. The unit still does not work. I have reached out to the company, and they are now saying I need a new coil (it's leaking) which will be 5000.The company that the unit was purchased from will not allow another company to bring it back. I have been tormented by this horrendous problem. They have poor customer service and will not provide ANY options! I am now having to purchase another unit (3.5 ton) unit from another company. I reached out to the company, and this was the response "We are firm that we will not be refunding you for the unit we rightfully installed last year, nor will we be swapping/exchanging any equipment out."- 6/1/2024 Never use them and keep everything - dates - time and problems (there will be some!!)

Thank you, **************** for your review and support over the past 30 years. We are saddened that we were not able to come to a common ground for the issue you have expressed above.Below is our interpretation of the matter at hand.On 6/28/23 we replaced your old unit by matching the capacity and size (5-ton) with a new (5-ton) unit. Your home is 3100 sqft. and only has one unit. There is no possible way your home had a 3.5 ton unit before we replaced your unit. A 3.5 ton only covers about 1700 sqft.; your home is almost double that size. Please note that your old 5-ton unit had been working for several decades before it finally gave out last summer. Also, the new unit we installed worked all summer of 2023. When we came back in May of 2024, we had to replace a part on the unit we installed (the capacitor). While we stand by the brand and unit that was installed, minor things can happen that are out of our control. That is why companies offer 10-year manufacturer warranties when products are registered with them. We did not install a refurbished unit. We simply changed a part out.The ongoing issue is that your system has a leak in the evaporator coil (20+ years old) and should have been replaced years ago. You were informed by our staff on numerous occasions that your coil had a Freon leak and it needed to be replaced, but you opted to mitigate the problem by putting a "band-aid" on it by charging it with Freon year after year. Again, this was against our recommendations of replacement. Unfortunately, we did not document this in writing because we viewed you as family and assumed that the trust was established. We are an esteemed HVAC company with nearly 40 years of experience and we stand by our decision to replace your unit last summer and any other recommendations we have made for your HVAC system over the past 30 years. We have had no complaints from you for three decades until now. Again, we are grateful for this experience as it has forced us to take a hard look at our practices and make adjustments were needed. This process has truly helped us to improve our operations moving forward and for that we are grateful.Thank you, Jackson and Sons Heating and Air

Additional comments:You are correct that the replacement 5-ton unit was upgraded to the new mandated 410a refrigerant while your old dated 5-ton evaporator coil has R-22 refrigerant. The reason this works is because on a 5-ton 410a condenser, no modifications (changing of piston, orfice, etc.) have to be made with the evaporator coil to make it work in conjunction with a condenser with the new Freon. That is why your system worked all last summer after replacement until May of this year when the capacitor went out. A part that was changed under warranty.

Very professional! I purchased a DuctlessAire mini-split system for my workshop from a major big box hardware store 2 years ago. It had a leak after 1 year. The second year leaked again. The system only had 1 year warranty and the units are no longer available from the company website. The big box is still selling this mini-split today. ****** ********************** came out and could not locate the leak without opening up the evaporator. There isn't an authorized technician recommended in *******. Mr. ********************** came back to install a complete new mini-split system, but in the process of disconnecting the old system, he located the leak and made the repair. He saved me $$$$. I always use honest, fair contractors. I will definitely use ********************** and Sons in ******* again.
